Crowbob Johnson.
Every time he stands up, everyone in the room laughs. |
I don't think I've seen the Holy Grail mentioned yet........not Monty Python (hilarious, no doubt),
but the one and only Mr. Jonathan Winters: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/_NqEKvk9F4I" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
A year or two ago I watched a biography show about Jeff Foxworthy on A&E.
On the show they had Jeff, Ron White, Larry the cable guy, and Kathleen Madigan. The show was all about Jeff's life, career, and how he helped others. Pretty much a well-deserved and well-earned tribute to Jeff. But what was blaringly obvious was the absence of Bill Engvall. Not a single mention of him and that struck me as odd. Bill owes Jeff big-time, 90% of his success and career are directly due to Jeff's help. Couldn't help but wonder if there was a falling out? https://www.ajc.com/blog/radiotvtalk/jeff-foxworthy-biography-airing-may-featuring-larry-the-cable-guy-ron-white-kathleen-madigan/k8C8Glgkrct6Wlr7qu1dBK/ <iframe width="900" height="506" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zK-MdPm4CSo" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Rodney Carrington was pretty good. Pryor and Carlin were great. Did anybody say Flip Wilson ?
|
Another +1 for the late Richard Jeni; here's a favorite bit (NSFW—language) / PG-13) that busts everybody:

Dear Penis is the only country song I’ve ever liked.
Oops, there is another....‘Don’t look now mommas got her boobs out’ Brian Regan is great too. |
Steven Wright breaks every comedian rule (pausing too long, mumbling incoherently, etc)
|
Emo Philips (old) Esoteric, cerebral, walking the garden style humor.
James Acaster (new) |
;)Eddy Murphy, Richard Pryor, Redd Foxx, Rodney Danger Field, Woody Allen, Steve Martin, Steven Wright, Andrew Dice Clay, Bob Hope, Abbott and Costello, Lewis Black, Lisa Lampanelli, Joan Rivers, Gilbert Gottfried, Jeff Ross. Good mix, I try to laugh at others but they fall flat on the funny scale. The above choices are rib splitters to me..;)

Robin's take on golf. (NSFW).

Bob Hope
Red Skelton |

Milton Berle He wasn't so funny on 50's TV because of the type of programs produced. But let him free and he was funny. |

(Edit: I did not read dw1's response) Williams was quicker. Winters was sooooo in the same camp. He just didn't do Adderal - lol. Now, unless I missed it, no one has mentioned Norm MacDonald or Lewis CK. Or Henny Youngman if going old school. Quite a list that could be the best at the right place or time. |
