UNCLE!
I give. Recycled the power (as in unplugged it for 30 seconds, then plugged it back in) and tried the remote. No joy. Tried to clear all the code programing and got no where as I couldn't ever get the 'remote' light on the opener to light up so I could re-teach it. At least I was able to get it to work with the wall button switch again. Guess I'll look into an upgrade like is linked above. I wonder if Martin makes something like that? |
Jeez, we can identify some obscure car from the 50s, by looking at a lug nut, but we can’t diagnose a garage door opener? We’re slipping!
|
id be looking at the opener receiver as the culprit. check it out inside and see if there is any evidence of poor connections or blown out capacitors or something
|
Your 315 mhz modular receiver is not working (fig 19). Check the wires/connections...replace if necessary. Easy to find. Just follow the antenna wire.

You didn't vaccinate your garage door opener and it has CLOSIT19.
The govt will now increase your property taxes and your homeowners insurance will raise your rates. An undocumented family from a 3rd world country is going to be assigned to live in a tent in your back yard. You are doomed. |
You can buy a new garage door opener for $120 and have this problem out of your hair in about 45 minutes. It's all about the time value of money.... err something like that.
|
Easy does it guys. I've got one of those upgrade kits coming tomorrow via Prime. Yes, I've located the Receiver module and taken it out and plugged it back in to check connections. No joy. They are discontinued so the upgrade will take care of it, I hope.

I have two garage doors, one is a double door, and my work bay and where I normally park is a single door. The double door is a Genie that was installed as the house was built. I went to a wall mounted unit for the single door to get more height for the single door for my scissor lift. It is a Lift Master unit. One time somehow, it lost all the remotes codes. I had to reprogram all three cars to learn the Lift Master again. All I can guess is a power surge or the extraterrestrials zapped it.
I reprogrammed everything from scratch and it has worked for years. |

The problem is with the wired buttons not the remotes. Usually they work but sometimes they don't. The buttons would work after I turned the breaker off and back on so I changed the breaker and the whole garage door opener and the problem persists. My next step is to rewire the button in the house and in the garage but that involves pulling wire through the breezeway. Since it works more often than it doesn't, I just keep figuring that it's not the wiring. |

I had this problem recently on a 20 year old Craftsman opener.
Found a Youtube video that suggested replacing a small capacitor on the board. Although the capacitor was not "swollen" like they get when they're bad, it did measure the wrong capacitance. I replaced the capacitor for a couple bucks and all worked again. I've got no idea if this works for your opener, but capacitor failures are pretty common and may apply. |

Got the new receiver installed this morning.
Programed the new remote on the bench. My car Homelink reprogramming was easey peasey too. Everything is working and my garage is a lot more secure with the rolling code device installed.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1634241681.JPG Thanks for all the support here. It's always good to know help isn't far away.SmileWavy |

Glad to hear. Which one did you get? Link?
|
I got this one off Amazon since they could deliver it in a day. Home Depot has them too, similar price, but it takes a week for them to get them.

Thanks. Good info.

The only disappointing thing about it was that the wall wort didn't have a double plug on it in case I'd needed to use it. I was able to use some contacts on the opener itself that had the needed 24V for powering the receiver unit. I didn't have an 'extra' outlet to plug the wall wort into so it worked out just fine.
