Garage door opener not responding...

So I'm getting ready to leave for the dentist this morning and go to close the garage door with my homelink button in the car....and nothing happens.
Push it numerous times and same result...nothing happens.
Get out of the car and go into the garage and push the button on the wall...door closes. Push the same button again and it opens perfectly.
Try the remote fob in my wife's car and....nothing happens.
Push her car out of the garage since she has a dentist apt too and won't be able to close the door from in her car so....
Anyways, I get home from the dentist and the door is still unresponsive. I google the manual and all the lights on the control panel are 'Normal'.
I unplug/replug in the Modular Transmitter and try a remote which I've put a new battery into....and....nothing happens.
I think I need a new Modular Transmitter.
How do you find stuff like that?
I've googled it and nothing comes up?
It's a Martin DC3700e opener that works fine, as long as you are pushing a hardwired button attached to it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as we use our garage door as a front door most of the time.

Are your obstruction lights showing the right color? (the ones on the tracks on both sides)

Any chance you just changed the light bulb in the opener? I've not experienced it myself, but I've seen many references to some LED bulbs causing problems with remote operation on door openers.

Good to know!

The light works fine and has been in there a long time. The only thing about the opener that doesn't work is it won't respond to a remote controller.

Look to make sure you did not hit the vacation lock button.

I did this with mine it drove me nuts until I figured it out.

Scott Douglas 10-12-2021 12:35 PM

I cleaned the sensors with a q-tip so they are not obstructed.

It is the Democrats taking over control of your life...first the mandate and then the Garage door opener when will these depredations cease...

there is also a RESET BUTTON on those things...

You must be an OC Republican who are renowned for their ahhh challenged IQ's.

Scott Douglas 10-12-2021 12:36 PM

Didn't hit the vacation button and the light blinks when it is 'engaged' so that is working OK.

Scott Douglas 10-12-2021 12:38 PM

The only challenged IQ is the IQ of some of my camera lenses tabs.

I guess sticking a button outside on the wall is out?

some troubleshooting that I assume you've seen, but just in case.

Quote:

Is the wall control button light blinking? If so, your opener is in the vacation / lock mode. Push vacation lock button to turn off. Has the opener learned the code of the transmitter? Repeat transmitter programming steps.
Have all transmitters been set with the same code? Repeat code learning procedure.
Does the transmitter indicator light blink when the transmitter button is pressed? If not, replace battery.
Are photo eyes obstructed? If so. door will only close while wall control/push button is pressed and held.

I've found several replacement fobs, but not having as much luck finding the central receiver/transmitter.

Scott Douglas 10-12-2021 12:40 PM

Yes, putting a button outside is not an option.

Good...but there is a led light on top of each....and they should both be green.
The reason I mention this...mine failed on me (one light was yellow) and I couldn't get it to make contact with the other. Needed to replace the set...works fine now.

I'm going to suggest something very embarrassing.
Don't ask me how I know.
On my interior manual buttons is a "lock" feature, which lets you open the door from the inside, but locks out all remote keys.
When the genius (me) unlocked the doors, the remotes worked again.

Zeke 10-12-2021 12:42 PM

What happened to the remote? None of our cars have an in car opener. We just carry the remote. You can buy those and program them in less than a minute.

Scott Douglas 10-12-2021 12:43 PM

I will go double check the sensors....

I think he said that he tried both cars and then tried one of the old remotes with new batteries too.

Some cars these days come with remotes built into the car that you can program just like you would a separate remote.

Scott Douglas 10-12-2021 12:48 PM

There are no LED's on the sensors.

As you can see, they're old as dirt.:D

If you've gotten the COVID vaccine you can push on your arm where the shot was and the door will open. One push to open, two pushes to close.
