Why was I refused a sale of Zyrtec-D?

The Fry's pharmacy could not tell me. They scanned my DL and said there's a block on it. WTF? I have the new "real ID," I have Global Entry and no criminal record. The pharm tech asked when I last bought it. I said about seven years ago. Obviously, whatever I have left is long expired. Come to think of it, the last time I bought it was at a Ralph's in Studio City, CA. And they refused the sale too. But then they asked for my Fry's club card and then they said it was all good and sold it to me. Anyway, just now, on the way home from Fry's I tried at CVS and they also scanned my license, let me buy it. WTF is this? How do I fix it?

Stop going to Frys?

Which is extra weird since here, they were an electronics store.

That's a weird thing that you've got going on. If you were refused someplace, but not another, then I would think that it would have to be the place that refused you that you'd need to talk to. If Frys refused you, but CVS didn't, then I think you need to talk to someone at Frys that can get to the bottom of the problem.

It could have just been the pharmacist is a dick or thought you were sketchy.

I require insulin syringes which do not require a prescription

The one ***** pharmacist at my CVS will not dispense the syringes without a prescription because "it's at her discretion"

Mind you she will dispense me the meds that require the syringes, but not the syringes themselves even at the same time.

I hate this word but she is a royal rhymes with bunt.

Even her own staff hate her.

Why?

Cause she is a power tripping POS and everyone in the community despises her with a passion.

I didn't get that vibe at all from this woman and I've been getting scripts there for 11 yrs. She knows me and my doctor's office. My issue is that neither she, nor the pharmacist could tell me how to fix this, like there's no recourse. I'm not gonna die without it, and I can always have my wife or a friend get it for me. But WTF?

Arizona_928 10-13-2021 07:10 PM

Pharmacies use that dea database. Kroger prolly has schit software.... fun fact. If you have a cac or dd form 2 you can buy an extra dose. What is more fun is that if you get that from an installation pharmacy. It's not under dea jurisdiction as the software is by state.

When I last got it, it was kind of urgent. The non-D stuff does nothing for me. I had just ridden my bike to LA, it was crazy hot in Oct. there and I was in total misery. But I got it and all was well. Haven't touched it since there, but the sinuses have been acting up this week and I want a quick fix nearby if I need it.

Use the "I'm a junkie" excuse?
(it seems that was what she was looking for)

They know about your guns Rick.

They use it to make meth...comb your hair and brush your teeth...and stop buying so much. Big brother is watching.

Try Allegra D (Fexofenadine / Pseudoephedrine). It works better than Zyrtec for me anyways. Actually I take the generic version of Allegra because it is cheap...and use a cheap generic decongestant as needed. It is really inexpensive and all over the counter.

Zyrtec-D is OTC too. But the "D" means it's really behind the counter and you have to let them scan your ID to get it. I know why they do this, but it's ridiculous. Hell, I once had a script for it before it was OTC. And before that I dated a nurse who gave me lots of free samples before it was OTC. I'm going to use it for my own sinus relief and nothing else.

Yes, I know. The same for Allegra D...but Allegra is now OTC and so are many effective decongestants. Saves big bucks and works better for me.

Have you tried any of the nasal sprays? I use a combination of a regular zyrtec and a shot of Nasonex when the crops start coming off. That or I use my Navage since the saline rinse seems to last longer for me than the pills do.

Sounds like someone used your DL number to by medicine to make meth and got you on the list.

That was my first thought as well, but then he's able to go to another store, get scanned, and make a purchase. So if the second store is scanning and checking the same backend database, then it's not likely due to the database.

I'd call corporate for the place that denied the purchase. Be persistent. "We don't know" isn't a good answer. You may also ask to see the results of the scan.

GH85Carrera 10-14-2021 05:32 AM

If you have a good relationship with your doctor, have him write a prescription for it. In Oklahoma I can buy it without a prescription, but only a small supply. With a prescription I can get a 100 pills at a time. I hate going to the pharmacy, and I prefer as few trips there as possible.

The problem is all because of the meth heads. Their meth use is the only reason you have a problem getting it.

I'm guessing software issue. They monitor how often you buy. My wife mistakenly bought the 24 hr at Costco one time and wanted the 12 hr. She sent me back to get it the next day. "Just be Cool" she said. I almost screwed it up by over answering questions. "Sir is this for you?" I stumble through "Uh yea, sure, it's not for my wife or for making meth" or something like that. Mission accomplished.

Rick Lee 10-14-2021 06:10 AM

My doctor will write a script for it. But I use it so seldom, it's just not worth it and I want to fix the root cause here. WTF is on my DL that causes any database to hold something up? I buy guns all the time, never a hiccup with my DL, no cop has ever asked anything about it during a traffic stop.

red-beard 10-14-2021 06:14 AM

The database is run by the Feds. I picked some up for my wife in Houston. A few days later, I needed a small amount while I was in Idaho and I was denied. I told the pharmacist that I needed enough for 3 days. He was able to get an override for the smallest box.
