I almost lost my wife last nite.

Last nite started out like any normal evening at the fastfred house. I fell asleep about 10. My wife woke me up around 11 and told me to call the ambulance, that she was really struggling breathing . She was, and it was scary as hell.
As they whisked her off, I had to round up my crying 4 year old, and 15 year old boys, and head to the er. Only one person is allowed at a time in the hospital, so we spent the entire night making laps around the hospital parking lot, till 4 am.
She just came out of surgery from having a stent. I knew by the tone of the surgeon last nite, that it was serious, but had no idea how bad. She was in cardiac arrest for almost 15 minutes last nite
He said, in a last ditch effort, they threw the kitchen sink at her, and got her ticker back online . She almost did not make it. He mentioned clot buster is whay finally worked.
I'm sitting there trying to prepare myself to tell my little guy that his mommy is gone.
She has a long way to go, but from the sounds of it, she is going to be alright. Maybe some big lifestyle changes to come. She is 49, does not smoke, drink,or do drugs. She has, however ignored advice from her doctors in the past. She definitely has high blood pressure, and probably diabetes.
I'm a thankful guy right now.
Oh, and small world, the surgeon just bought the biggest house on the road my shop is on. I test drive past his house several times a day. I had never met him till today. Best freaking neighbor ever.
I'm.not super religious, but if you want to say a little prayer for her, Ill take it. Life can change in the blink of an eye.

Whooooooooo......sheesh...

What a night, eh? I'm glad everything is going to work out, FFR. Let her know that all of us are thinking good thoughts for a swift and full recovery.

Do you have any kin or friends coming out to help out for a few days while you adjust?

Good luck my friend.

That is so being a great Dad.

I pray for your wife's recovery, but your children will never forget that in her time of need, you thought of all of them.

My mother in law just informed me, that she is moving in for a bit. We have lots of family support close by. My wife, however, runs the office at work. This will take some adjusting.

Fred,

My thoughts go out to you. You are a good guy and have (I am certain) a lovely spouse.

Glad that she is on the mend. I am sure this is terrifying. If you need someone just to vent to and listen, let me know.

Wishing your whole family well,

Larry

Wow..glad your wife made it through. A real wake up call.

A now deceased friend once told me that life is what happens while you're busy making plans. Certainly seem to apply here.

I'm not religious either, although I work at a catholic school, I'll say a prayer. Best of luck to you all and I hope she can make those lifestyle changes so she is around to bug you, love you and babysit her great grandkids!

OMG, glad to hear your wife survived... what a harrowing experience for you all. Give your 4 and 15 year old some extra hugs and reassurance, sending mojo to you and yours fastfredracing.

Prayer to her, you and your family. Thank goodness it worked out last night. Hopefully, this was just a wake up call and she'll be able to make some changes so that you are a family for many, many more years.

Moment by moment.
By the grace of God and some professional medical help, it becomes minute by minute.
When she is in the hospital room, it then becomes hour by hour.
Hang in there. Your Boys need you

100+

It is wonderful to live in a time and in a country with real medical science close at hand.

Hug your wife for all of us, and I hope she takes better care of herself now.

Fred, I'm not religious either. I do have a relationship with our Father through Jesus Christ. I will pray for her healing and health. My wife's mother literally just had similar experience this past weekend. There is still time left for both of them
