Rock on road

On my way down the two lane Hiway 20 this morning when a oncoming car is passing a camper. No problem until I see a upcoming mini Boulder in my lane. No time to stop and swerving is not an option. Boom… right front hits the rock and I struggled to maintain control. I know my tire is going to go flat so I cross the double yellow into the only safe area around . Bent my rim pretty good. Had to call AAA since somehow my jack got jacked. Oh, it’s was raining too.

That sucks.

So you are not a fan of Rock and Roll.

Sorry, I had to.

Could have been snowing, glad you were able to keep it between the ditches.

Did it bend anything besides the rim?

Wow, must have been quite the rock. It's not like that's a 35 series tire on a 19" wheel. There's a bunch of sidewall there.

Congrats on not having worse/bigger issues.

That really was a boulder, you have a lot of rubber there and still lots of damage. That would have torn the underside right through if a sports car drove over it.

Just another notch in the Tacoma’s belt. At 424,000 miles it has its stories

Is that a 'stock' wheel?
If so, I'd be getting another one of those. That's a tough son of gun.
Glad you're OK, that could have been a lot worse.

When you get it back together, check your alignment. Glad you were able to safely get to the side of the road.

Stock wheel. To straighten it is over $150. Found some at a junk yard for $45.

Must be a forged wheel I bet. Cast wheel would've broken more than likely.

OEM alloy wheels are generally very high quality

I could see this deal ending with the shiny side down, bent wheel and crapping your pants is not so bad.

I went to a wheel shop several years ago and saw a guy fix a wheel that had a dent like that. And MAN that rock had to be a doozy. It's normally a low pro tire that gets ya.
