That's the thing, a Dyson is 99.9% cheapo plastic. When I threw ours away years ago and brought home a Miele, both my wife and house keeper thanked me. I was a hero for a day.

Not sure why I see so much hate on the Dysons. Bring down the top dog I guess.
Do you guys remember door to door vacuum salesman?

Mom replaced a Kirby with her Dyson. In part because the Kirby is not light and in part because she used her vacs and then saw how much more the Dyson picked up after hers.

I have a Dyson V8. I think it’s a few years old now. It’s what my wife wanted.
I initially had mixed feelings about it. It is all plastic, and in some ways it feels a bit “flexy,” but I don’t know if that means it’s “cheap plastic.” Because it has by no means been babied, and it gets almost daily use, and nothing has ever broken on it. It is very light, which is a huge plus. The suction IMO is very good for such a small, light unit. Very convenient to clean out, and no bags, it’s a good design. I don’t think anyone would vacuum 2500 square feet of house with it, it’s not the right tool for that. But for high traffic, daily use areas, it is very convenient and works well. The battery recently died (would only run for 2 minutes), but I replaced it and seems to be back to full strength again. It does seem a bit overpriced, but I’ve been happy with it. |
