Already have bsme and msie.
Thinking maybe an EE? BS or MS.
MBA would be BORING!!
Also looked at welding but its a 8-4 mon-thu deal.
Any fun classes come to mind?

I'm an EE and then later in life got my MBA. I only used my EE for about 6 or 7 years - then quickly got deeper into software.

BK what do you want to do with the degree? Resume padding or fun? Free tuition means you can explore classes with no downside?

You've already got the MS, I wouldn't bother with more tech stuff unless it would involve a lot of hands on work with perhaps mechanical engineering and 3d printing, CAD/CAM stuff, etc. Think of the parts you could make

I'd be tempted to maybe just do a bunch of gen-eds in history, maybe anthropology, earth/space science, etc.

I get free classes at the college I work for as well, my daughter's AA is costing me about $200 per term and I got my batchelors for about $1k out of pocket. Our benefit only covers tuition and lab fees - that whole "student life and activities fees" etc aren't covered... Since we are a "not legally allowed to be called a community college because we offer a few 4 year tech degrees", I can also go to the "other school in town" (UF) for almost free as well (and UF folks can come to SF....), and my dependents at about half price, though they may have some benefit from my dad who taught there from the early 60s until he died in '94

I have an MBA and it is “interesting “ as to the value as I am a salesman.

But, a tech background and an MBA is deadly.

I am an ME later got a technology commercialization business degree (from the other UT)

An interesting alternative to MBA, it shares some curriculum with MBA but more about managing and financing emerging technologies. Not sure if its offered at your school

Pretty late for me....and opened up doors I never even knew existed. There are a lot of executive programs (jusy make sure it is a good school) full of older folks (as well as young housewives) where you learn a lot that is not in the curriculum and are able to meet people/network outside your normal circle/stovepipe...that you never would have otherwise. Most professors recognize people as busy executives and cut out the busy work they give the kids. There are lots of variations. My school offered an MS in General Administration that was excellent and had many of the important MBA classes...but the MBA is a better recognized credential if looking for upward mobility/opportunity.

We have a young Lady that works for us that already has an MS in Aero, and is thinking about getting her PhD in Aero.

She asked me what I thought. "What do you want to do with the PhD you can't already do now?

She wasn't sure.

The general game plan of life is to get extremely rich whilst doing as little work as possible. so if a certain degree, MBA or PhD is your tool to do so great. But often employers of high level grad's want their pound of flesh in return for the big pay.

The best part about being in a business program as an engineer is the shock, awe, and depression of classmates with non technical background when any sort of financial model or graphing is assigned .

Its like highschool basketball vs NBA.

I am also MSME and got the business degree by "accident" as well, company was sponsoring a few employees per year and I was asked. Basically did it for self improvement and not with any career goals. The workload of these programs is huge (did while working reg job), but in general not difficult.

I think if I could choose any technical degree for fun, it would be embedded systems. You cant buy a pack of tissues without an LCD screen and a micro these days, and it seems interesting.

What is interesting about the young Lady I mentioned above is that she is a ranch kid from Wyoming that is just wicked smart and went to NC State for her aero degrees, full academic ride.

Sleep on NCSU at your peril.

She is the chief aero on one of more complicated projects I run and she is surprised I can model..."At your age!"

I make her run the meetings now. She is getting better
