When I bought the Fit...I wondered the same. Used the old method to determine that the MM was almost spot-on. Only a few tenths difference.

What really makes me laugh is when users say how many miles they get out of each tank.
They run it as close to empty as they dare and state the results. They have no idea how to figure it out with fill-ups.

Bought my 93 Toyota 4Runner at 120k, got to the moon only a couple of weeks ago too

It's my daily beater/family hauling wagon and building supplies shopping truck, it's been to 9 countries, will happily soak up a 1000 miles crossing a continent in a day and the 1st car I've owned that I know will get me to where I'm going no matter the weather

Plan to do some big drives around the world so in the near future so I'm either going to have to do a full resto or buy a new truck

And I asked, "How come your bosom is so small and you are so tight?"

She says "Get off my back."

Here's my playa whip!!!:D.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1637277938.JPG

Actually, that's not my car, these kids were cruising around and I pulled up next to them and we were chatting volvo. They couldn't believe I was taking pics of them

Mine's a 2005 volvo xc70. I thought I drove more miles than anyone out in the sticks. Not a door ding on it. I''ve redone the suspension and interior twice (I've worked it hard). Burnt a valve at 200k (I used low test gas... my bad). Many thrown wrenches. Many memories. Many heavenly scenes through the years.

Five years older than mine...understand the miles.
Mine has many paint scratches...but no dents. Not worth fixing at it's age and miles.

I frequent the Fit Freak BB and there is a guy on there from the east coast that has 525K miles on his Fit. It still looks great.

I once owned the first year Jetta. It was a two-door and it was a great car. I think it was early 80's?

My TDI is a 6 speed manual turbo diesel. Its one of the "Diesel Gate" cars. I chose the option of keeping it and VW "fixed?" it.

Diesels made sense when I bought it but our gummints decided to tax diesel fuel more so it cost more than gasoline where when I was a kid diesel was cheaper,

Still has the original clutch and no spark plugs or coils to deal with.

I'm not ready to let it go.

Frank Barrett gave me a ride in a Mercedes that had clocked over a million miles.

You guys have a bunch of almost new low mileage daily drivers.

My trusty 1986 El Camino is up to 377,000 miles after 30 years of ownership.

Not a week goes by that someone does not compliment the car, and most have a story of a relative or neighbor that had one.

And yea, it is my daily driver. 98% of the time when I go somewhere, or my wife goes with me we go in the Elky. Only if we are going to a PCA event or have a guests with us do we take one of the Porsches.

My 240,000 mile 2000 996 has been an amazing daily driver/airport car for the last 15 years and has been VERY reliable. She still runs the original engine and still makes great power - feels like nearly all of her original 300 horses are still in there. She’s badly in need of paint, a suspension refresh, and a second gear synchro, and will have all of those needs addressed in due time.

My 250,000 mile 2001 GMC Yukon 4x4 is an un-breakable tank and is barely broken in, lol.

(Sorry, would have provided better pics, but it’s raining here today).

When I posted, the first high mile car I thought of was yours.
Don't they use any salt on the roads in OK??
Or do you garage it for a few winter months?

Yes, they salt the roads when it is icy or snow on the ground in OKC. I drove in many ice and snow storms. I was just careful to wash the bottom of the Elky after each storm. In the last few years I have stopped commuting to work, as I work from home.

I commuted for over 25 years in it. Now it is just a daily driver, and if the roads suck, I stay home.

You must not live in the rust belt!

Thanks, and I live in central Bama so, not much snow to contend with, no salt on the roads, and no salty sea spray.

Salt is as cheap as dirt here. So..they use it liberally.

Years back...they only salted the intersections. Now...they do the entire road. People can't control their cars on a straight-away...so they have to protect them...Grrr.
