Not for the faint of heart.

I can deal with all the aches and pains from a life of physical adventure, but the mental aspects of aging are of concern for all of us, or should be. It is frightening: My MIL goes from being a Babbling Brook to lucid between sips of tea.

There is no history in my family of dementia or overly reduced capacity...I hope I stay the course.

The DC area airports give you a ticket for parking that you can pay on return at kiosks at the airport to avoid pay lines at the parking garages. I always write down the numbers and the garage. Map on line are my friend.

About a year ago I discovered that my iPhone remembers where I parked my car and will guide me back to it. Handy for large stadium events and unfamiliar parking lots.

The very day I picked my brand new 1974 914 2.0 I had a photo project 120 miles north. The radio from Porsche new would have been over $600 so I ordered the car radio delete and planned on getting my own radio. I had plenty of time, so I stopped at a mall in a city I had never been in before and went in the mall looking for a stereo shop. I did not find the 8 track stereo I wanted, so I went back to my car. I know I drove in on the ground level, and went to where I parked and my hours old car was not there. I was panicking and about to call the police, when I thought to look on the parking level one level up.

There was my car. Evidently, the level from one entrance is higher than the other entrances. I was real glad I did not call the cops, and happy to get in my car and go.

I realize it is not just age. Many people just have something else on their mind. 50 years ago my sister, who lived just a few miles away, dropped by with her kids and left a message for her husband to stop by for supper at the end of the day. At supper, I saw his truck go by and we speculated he needed to go into town for something. Ten minutes later he pulled into the driveway. When my sister asked where he had gone, he confessed he had started along the road and had gone a few miles beyond our house before he remembered where he was going .
He was noted for losing track of his surroundings when he was thinking. Shortly after trading his '70 Chevelle sedan with the 6 cylinder for a ' 74 Malibu wagon, he was daydreaming at a stoplight in town. When the light changed and he didn't react, my sister said,"The light. " His reaction was to floor the throttle which was required in the Chevelle. But the Malibu had the 454 and responded by laying down twin black marks across the main intersection in town!
Best
