I loved the concept of the matrix making the matrix a computer game in the new matrix story line. And for those who seem for some reason upset at the trans gender links. Please, fist can’t people get over their prejudices and please remember who the writer/directors were for the originals. I give the new one a 7 or 8 out of 10. A good solid reinterpretation of the original concept with a good fun move over the top. And both Reeves and Moss were brilliant in their roles again.

Here here... :)

I read that this movie did poorly. Get woke, go broke.

Rodsrsr 01-01-2022 08:50 AM

I don't support movies that include an overt political agenda, or negative, alternative social messaging....in other words woke.

stevej37 01-01-2022 10:57 AM

^^^ No movies for you! :D

Rodsrsr 01-01-2022 12:24 PM

lol....True! Either that or I'm relegated to old flicks. I wonder when the cutoff was...If I had to guess I'd say late 2000's things started to turn?

stevej37 01-01-2022 12:31 PM

^^^
I have no idea...but I would guess that it's been around longer than we think.
The transgender angle to Matrix is something I just don't want to know.

I just want movies to be entertaining...to escape reality.

jamesnmlaw 01-02-2022 07:16 AM

Meh...

stevej37 01-03-2022 02:30 PM

^^^ I'd rate it 'Meh+2'

Tobra 01-03-2022 02:42 PM

So the tranny thing is an after the fact rehash to make the film fit with those guys deciding they were women later on.

Perfect

911boost 01-03-2022 04:43 PM

Is this true? Really?

So they just trashed all the first movies by stating they weren't real and NEO is or was a girl? Huh?

Nostril Cheese 01-03-2022 06:33 PM

Keep in mind that the first one was innovative and an unexpected major success.

The next two were cash grabs that tried to assign some sort of deeper meaning to the films. Lets be honest.. they sucked and made no sense.

I have no interest in the new one. But fully support trans rights.

sc_rufctr 01-03-2022 08:00 PM

I've watched the movie twice and I didn't see this supposed "Trans Message".

What I did see was a heterosexual couple that became more powerful when they were united.
- "Old School Hetro Couple" ... Shock horror!

Neo & Trinity... :D

^^^ A great sequence from the original. Will always be one of my fav movies.
Not bad for a 22 year old movie!

Brando 01-04-2022 05:37 PM

It was surprisingly not bad. It definitely got meta about 30 minutes in, and aside from the blue hair waifu becoming completely useless about 45 minutes into the film and regurgitating about half of the first film, I expect it will keep the franchise alive long enough to make another half-billion before fading oit of memory, again.

I remember the Matrix was out in Theaters. My friend said to me, you have to see this movie it is insane, it will blow your mind.

It was in its last days in the theater, I was too busy running my new company to care.

He dragged me out to see the movie, the wives went to see a chick flick we went to see The Matrix.

One thing I do remember, there were exactly 4 people in the theater that night. 2 people were having sex in the back row, I was not one of those people neither was my friend.

The movie was mind blowing. Pretty wild concept at the time.

I also remember that movie being my first DVD purchase, DVD players had just come out, I did not have one, but I had the DVD.

I was waiting for PlayStation to release its new unit which was DVD Compatible.

It was the first disk played in my PS2 when it came out.

I have not seen the new release, I will eventually, ironically I am so busy with my business again I am not keeping up with anything.

Plus I lost interest in movies these last few years.

I rarely stop to watch anything new, no time, and catch it at my leisure later on streaming. My home theatre setup rivals a movie theater in sound (Sunfire), so I do not feel I am missing out watching at home.

I will get around to this movie eventually, when I have nothing else to do.

911boost 01-04-2022 09:19 PM

That was you in the theater Jim when my gf and I saw the Matrix?

First I respectfully disagree. I think it's aged very well, especially given how addicted to the online world we (as humanity, not specifically here) have become. Falling down the rabbit hole into a literal matrix is a great analogy for those who live their lives through social media. On top of that the effects were so ahead of their time they stand up very well.

Also it's a bit of a stretch to say a 22 year old Sci Fi movie has aged poorly against a 2 year old movie that re-writes a historical event.

Z-man 01-05-2022 06:58 AM

Woke wasn't around when the original came out -- so trying to make it fit into the trans agenda is an inaccurate interpretation of the movie, just like saying The Matrix is a reimagination of the Christ story. (Although there were closer parallels to that message than the trans message, IMHO),

As for Matrix Resurrections:

Neo & Trinity... :D

Agreed. It was more about Neo & Trinity than gender identification. But it did have some woke elements, although at times it was poking fun of the whole movement, especially in the meetings when they are working on creating M4. It kinda alludes to the notion that social media is a type of matrix that traps people inside and controls them. Sound familiar!?!

vash 01-05-2022 07:10 AM

by "woke" are we talking about when they bring Trinity out of deep sleep?

wtf? are you all talking about?
