I enjoyed the Reacher movies very much. I hate when they change actors for a character.
Although the books make a big deal about size, I liked the fact that the movie Reacher was a smaller guy where people underestimated him...and Cruise had just the on-screen personality necessary. Although there is no substitute for size, the toughest guys I have ever met were really not large monsters, but wiry, smart and simply had an attitude. Most were more like the character in Nobody and did not seem a bit fazed by pain (almost enjoyed it). I used to know a rather small (but very athletic and crazy fast) guy like this who always seemed to get into bar fights with two or three guys (sometimes more). He tended to give them a beat down...although he usually walked away beat to a pulp. He was always as tough as nails but seemed to have a lot of demons to exorcize when he came back from Vietnam.

I just finished episode 1 and really liked it. Alan Ritchson is more wooden than Tom Cruise, but intimidating in a kind of Arnold Schwarzenegger Commando/Predator kind of way. I think he'll settle in fine. The fight scenes are excellent.

Almost finished with the first season. I really like it. I’ve read all the reacher books so as good an actor as Tom Cruise is, I couldn’t get past the size issue. The fight scenes in the series seem much more Reacher like. Especially how he’s constantly getting in fights which is how the books go down.
