Have watched about 5 episodes. Reacher = Mandalorian to me. Same voice, mannerisms and ass-kicking ability. Roscoe is a great character...and she is easy on the eyes (once out of uniform). Enjoying it so far.

The actor who played Roscoe does nothing for me. I kept wishing that they'd have used "Karen" from Corner Gas:

Sticking with Roscoe. Based on above, I think I won that one!

I watched the first couple episodes, found it mediocre at best. Very formulaic, dude reminds me of "Walking Tall."

Like I said, it's a formula. And not a very clever one. You can probably buy some software that will write those scripts for you.

I thought the script writing/ directing/ acting for the two TC reacher movies was much better. But it's not really fair to make the comparison. Not the same sort of production.
An example of better screenwriting is the hostage situation. In "Reacher" it was so cliche, like a Green Hornet episode from the 1960s. But the Tom Cruise Jack Reacher said "go ahead kill the lawyer." and hung up. He really did a nice job. As far as "walking everywhere" he took one guy's single car. It's not like he borrowed a Jag, and then a Bentley from a family who just handed him the keys so he can drive all over the countryside (wtf?). |

Watched first episode today. So far, so good.
You guys keep talking about the books. Do they need to be read in order or can you start anywhere? If you can start anywhere, what book would you suggest? I drive 4 hours round trip for work. I like to listen to audiobooks.

With a couple of exceptions, you can read them in just about any order.
For the most part, I liked the earlier books better than the later books. I don’t know if audiobooks have everything in them that the print books do, as I’ve never listened to one. If they don’t, you’re better off reading the books. What set Lee Child apart from most authors was the level of detail he went into, particularly as regards how Reacher would think and process information, you don’t want to miss that nuance. |

It would have been much better if he was a pacifist, zen Buddhist! And that would have been a pleasant, and exciting surprise. He could have just spoken to the bad people about life and spirituality.
