I remember doing mine online....went easy. ssa.gov
The next year, I went online to increase my withheld taxes from it. I hate paying..would rather break even or overpay a little.

Thanks Steve! I've had an online account for about a year now .... seems like they really have their act together and the process made easy. I'm still a month or so away from being able to apply tho'....
"It's MY money and I want it NOW!" ..... just like those commercials ...I never thought I'd get a penny back .... Woo Hoo

I did in October ... easy process, took about 30-45 days to get the letter.

You can apply up to 4 months prior to when you want benefits to start.
