They would have been better off showcasing the unique flavor of Miami than trying to stage a fake Monaco.
I’m sure the entire world got a good laugh at our expense. |

I guess we know which one was correct. During FP3 and Qualifying, the Red Bull cars were hitting 336-337 kph at the end of the fastest straight, whereas the other teams were reaching the high 320s or maybe 330kph. That’s the difference that DRS provides! So, that’s why, even with DRS enabled, Ferrari/LeClerc couldn’t close the gap on Max. DRS just made them equal. -rb |
Given that information, one would be led to believe Max is better at looking after his tires than Checko or either Ferrari driver. In the past few races Max has managed his pace for a few laps then run his race. A very disciplined strategy.

She's a lot better when the cameras are off.

Road & Track sums it up. F1 has moved on to a new audience.
The Miami Grand Prix Knows What It's Selling The inaugural Miami Grand Prix felt like something between a live taping of Drive to Survive and an overgrown Instagram prop. That was not a mistake. https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/a39947724/the-miami-grand-prix-knows-what-its-selling/ |

Thank-you, Liberty media, for putting F1 race attendance further out of reach of the average fan and into the hands of those who just want to be seen. |

Its a very expensive live performance is it not...?
If one wants more affordable formula to watch in person it is out there in abundance. Quote:

I noticed many folks on social media posting that they attended at the $$$ of others, usually teams, sponsors, or corporations. I don't want to say who but their comments were all the same; great race, blablabla. I'm sure it was since you went for free. My first race was in 2002 to Hockenheim and it was about $330 for 3 day admission and a seat directly across from pit lane. I get it that that was 20 years ago but I can't fathom the prices that this GP brought. |
Road & Track is behind a paywall now since I used up all my free views. How much did it cost to do the Miami weekend?

I loved the part where the one lady said after Saturday she decided to stay at hotel and watch since it was so bush league. |

From what I understand, ticket prices started at $700 or $800 for a three day basic ticket and went up from there. |
I think that adding Las Vegas was a pure master stroke move from a business point of view. Not sure about Miami, but time will tell if there is a need to race in both Florida and Texas.
I have zero problem with the race appealing to the social media fans. But maybe people who have zero racing experience should not be given a microphone. No one benefits, including the younger fans, who might benefit from an experienced commentary. |
We've got to get this kid into F1

I just happened to see that. Pretty dang good driving. I know there was a storm, but the stands were all but empty. No idea how Indycar can stay in business w/o butts in seats. |

You are never going to see a save much better than that one . Amazingly quick hands . Talented kid .

I thought the Indy GP crowd looked pretty decent for the horrible weather conditions. The enormity of the facility tends to make it look empty? That was a great race to watch. There were 362 passes for position

https://manofmany.com/entertainment/sport/top-f1-driver-salaries-2022
Found the above on my apple news feed this morning. I got questions: How accurate are these numbers and were does this come from? Do teams really provide this info on their drivers to the public? Does F1 require them to release this? The article does say this.... "Max Verstappen’s salary—as impressive it may be—is merely the tip of an iceberg that includes sponsorships, partnerships, investments, and all kinds of free swag, amongst other things. The same goes for any of the sport’s major stars." But I would think that they get bonuses for wins and podiums and points scored. Interesting that Lando makes more that Ricardo. Does this mean Lando is the #1 driver? Is Lance worth $10M??? And shouldn't this be called an allowance from his dad and not a salary? Perez should be paid more. Your thoughts??? |
^^^
Speaking of Lance ... him answering the question this morning in FP1 regarding how their cars are now remarkably similar to Red Bull (no doubt with the help of those engineers that swapped teams), he looked like the cat that ate the canary. I'm surprised he didn't bust out laughing |
After Practice 2
Ham looked happy for the first time this season.
|
Interesting Qualifying. Schumacher made it to Q3 for the first time. Both HAAS in Q3.
|
Tough way to lose P1
|
That was a pretty good run for Ham
Given his position (last place) on second lap. IMO
|
Probably the hardest he's ever had to drive™.
Looks like Russell is really starting to figure out the Benz. |
LeClerc fan here, I hated this race. Ugh.

He should be, that was an amazing drive. |

He is a talented driver, but he is so lucky, it is hard to beat him. George is really showing his talent. Ferrari has some real reliability issues they need to figure out ASAP. |

HAM Lap 2 : "Can I go home now, can we save the engine? What's the point? Whaaa"
Mercedes: "Hey do your job, you can salvage points" Brit Media: "HAM driver of the day !!" LOL...I miss US commentators.. Russell though, man, impressive kid!! Gutted for Leclerc and Ferrari, would have kept the fight interesting.. |
Since when did FP1 and FP2 move to Friday in Monaco? It has always been on Thursday for reasons that escape me.

did martin brundle write this? on and on with no real point I gave up after about 75 paragraphs so I never got to the answer |
Watching FP1 in Monaco that is a crazy narrow track . Have we reached a point where the new cars are too fast/wide/heavy for this track ?

Tradition über alles! (Not to mention the pallets of money this race brings to anyone and everyone involved.) I'm glad to see that Danny had some speed first practice. Can't help thinking his time at McLaren is going to be through soon if he doesn't sort things out, but projecting ahead it would be cool to see him in Indycar or even NASCAR. Wonder how Ferrari is feeling about Li'l Schumacher? Remember when teams would have special suspension and steering just for Monaco and just for the Lowes (edit, Loews, sorry.) hairpin? I wonder what they do now? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1653659825.jpg |
