Something to watch while we wait for 2022 testing and car launches:

Thanks, that was one that I hadn’t seen before.

Haas challenger on the left. 2021 car on the right for reference. Much different is good.

^^^ I really hope Haas can be competitive this year and beyond . Also hoping a few more sponsors will come on board to help the team continue a forward path .
|
That is one tubby car.

To my untrained eye the radiator inlets seem on the small side . But I also see Gunther Steiner has already said the car that rolls onto the grid may/will look different than these renderings .
|
At last we get to see the Haas car.
(pun intended) |

Race of champions took place - amazingly the final was Seb Loeb vs Seb Vettel. Buggies on ice.
Loeb - who is a living rally god (9x world champion) barely beat Vettel by 7/10ths. I find that amazing, that Vettel was this good on ice vs a legend. Funny when his champagne froze and cork broke off too.. good guy ! |

Looky Likeky #44 Lewis Hamilton: The half Grenadine, half Caucasian British citizen of the UK is looking forward to racing in the 2022 F1 calendar. "I'm Back, Biches" said the Brit recently while clearly enthused about the prospect of coming in second to Max Verstappen a second time in a row... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1644346071.jpg Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey Jr.): "I am Iron Man" said the popular American actor while recently spotted at a Starbucks in Century City. When asked for his autograph, the silver screen icon signed his name on a napkin with the advice to "Never go Full Retard". http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1644346365.jpg |
Nooooooooo
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1644595220.jpg there goes my favorite team clothing line ruined ;-( If that doesn't confirm Otmar, nothing will. |
F1 has announced that they will no longer have drivers kneeling before the races.
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2022/feb/08/f1-formula-one-chiefs-choose-to-move-away-from-kneeling-gesture-in-2022-season-motor-sport Seb is unhappy about it. https://www.essentiallysports.com/f1-news-sebastian-vettel-shares-his-disappointment-with-f1-removing-pre-race-kneeling-gesture/ |
That Alpine car is beyond the beyond. These cars are not looking cool.
Help! |

That is horrible |
this one looks more like a winner, still not pretty

Even though the wheelbase is shorter on the new cars, they still appear ungainly.

Some changes to sprint races..
Initially the commercial folks wanted 6 but they're still being negotiated down by teams- likely 3 only. The sprint races will now be standalone races, qualifying will decide the race grid again, *not* the sprint race result. Points allocation will change from 3, 2, 1 points last year to 8 points for the winner, 7, 6 etc down to the 8th finisher with 1 point. It's a true mini independent race now... |
Fenders
What's the purpose of the little front fenders on these new cars?? I know it's kind of a stupid question, but baffles me.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1644865288.jpg

Williams signs a long term sponsorship deal with Duracell . I think they unveil the car tomorrow , will be interesting to see if it has a black/copper theme .
|
|
^ If those are all at the same scale, then the cars are really huge now.

but just a guess |
there was a BIG push to limit bad air off the leading car to not allow the car behind to get close
without lost of D/F and resulting tyre degrading reports are they are better the new cars can be a lot closer may 1 car not under that but not as good as indy cars with their tightly controlled airo bits |
Mark your calendars, get your slippers and sweatpants ready.
Drive to Survive premiers on March 11. |

Michael Masi has been offered a different position within F1 and is out as race director. Edit: I believe it is Masi offered new position within FIA
Plus, VAR like nonsense coming to F1. The end is near. https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/michael-masi-dropped-as-f1-race-director-after-fia-investigation/8254002/ |
The F1-75 looks pretty good.

The William's new livery is nice too... I'm just afraid of how my fav alpine is gonna look with BWT pink, UGH Now that they're moved Masi out of the way I hope the British press can move on, stuff's getting old... |

IIRC you have F1 TV. Are the announcers neutral or pro Hamilton like on Sky? I find Damon Hill to be one of the worst. |
The Brits and their press are totally addicted to drama. They love to create and stoke controversy where there was none.
And wow, the Ferrari: If all of this stuff works, then it's going to be quick <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ryXs0Lhmy10" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Think I'm alone in loving the new shaped cars, so much cleaner, less aero clutter and all the better for it
Pick of the bunch so far for me is easily the Ferrari F1-75, looks stunning, wishing everyone at Maranello a few race wins but not too many Loving the 2022 black banded steel wheel look but Ferrari really need to get some BBS gold mesh wheel graphics on their car Exclusive PPOT rumour news, I was told by a F1 technical director (not Binotto) Ferrari will be the team to beat, makes a lot of sense as last years neck and neck championship fight will have weakened both Mercedes and Red Bull's focus on the 2022 rule changes, won't be too long before we find out for real http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1645227250.jpg Hass could be the dark horse this year with a reasonable climb up the grid, the technical side has been significantly strengthened with a very strong leadership team, lots of good Ferrari people have transferred across, my old boss (best boss I've ever had), a few ex-colleagues/friends from my Ferrari F1 skunks works days and a very experience aero head I know well Interesting article linking Porsche with Redbull when the new engine regs are introduced. If this partnership is confirmed think I'll try to get in on the fun, would be very cool to be part of a Porsche race car project ;) https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/porsche-red-bull-partnership-latest/8275245/ Mercedes and McLaren look like super model sized but the Aston Martin looks like a size 16  http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1645225829.jpg My F1 work stops end of this month but will race on until the end of 2025 so I'll carry on rooting for Red Bull and Alpha Tauri until I'm trying to beat them working somewhere else  |
