Agreed. He stopped to try to help a driver who was in potentially very serious trouble. He shut the car down to get out and run over to help. When he got back to it, he couldn't figure out how to get it restarted. He then ran to the pits (I'm not sure why he didn't call on the radio) to ask for restarting instructions, having specifically asked the crew not to load it up on the flatbed. They loaded it before he was able to get back. In the condition it was in, it's very likely he could have driven it back, and there would have been time to repair it before the restart. So, yeah, "no good deed goes unpunished"...

I feel bad for Leclerc. Ferrari, as usual, are just blowing this for him once again. For a supposedly top tier F1 team, their strategy calls are just abysmal over and over again.

Ferrari does not deserve him. I wonder if Merc would be open to recruiting him when Ham retires?

Remember, in hell, "everything is organized by the Italians"...

Both ;-) You can pretty much navigate using Ferrari's strategists. If they say right, go left, works 100% of the time. I'm super happy for Sainz - but yeah, they have zero chance in the championship if they can't put Leclerc in front when Max is 7th... none.

They have not made a good strategy call since the days of Todt/Schumacher, and even then the car-driver combo was so much better it almost did not matter. It's almost a joke at this point.

It's too bad, too. The new car is both beautiful and fast, and should be able to finish no lower than 4th at any given race.

Wow, Lewis Hamilton really is a human, and can make a mistake, and crash. He is fine, but his car is not. He did it all by himself.

I truly and happy he is fine, and to find he is not a robot. He just never crashes on his own. How long has it been since he crashed on his own.

George did not do a whole lot better. Astonishing.

How about Haas qualifying 7th and 8th ? Great results let's get some more points now .

herr_oberst 07-08-2022 03:27 PM

Checa penalized 9 spots. Sheesh

how can I see qualifying results on the web, but have ESPN showing FP2 and qualifying on Saturday?

It’s another Frankenstein weekend. Sprint to set Sunday grid.

GH85Carrera 07-08-2022 07:14 PM

Yea, today was just FP1, then the Qualifying. Tomorrow is the sprint race after FP 2.

I guess the qualifying replaces one practice session.

Great sparring between Hamilton and Schumacher. A HAAS going head to head against a Mercedes for lots of laps.

I have to say that the Halo was a great idea. That thing seems to be preventing a lot of injuries if not actually saving lives.

rfuerst911sc 07-10-2022 06:42 AM

A nail biter of a finish due to reliability concerns but congratulations to the winner . Great points day for Mercedes/Haas/McLaren. How about Alonso grabbing points from last place . Gutted for Sainz ☹️ .

Great racing for this one. Lots of passing, and dicing. Ferrari has an engine kerblamo and issues on the other car.

Very entertaining race.

berettafan 07-10-2022 04:14 PM

how many incidents has Gasley been involved in over the season? Seems like the guy belongs in nascar instead of open wheel racing.

URY914 07-10-2022 05:25 PM

Lewis Hamilton is the only driver to have made it halfway through the season without a DNF this year.

Hamy luck.

I think they’ve nailed the formula this year. Great close racing throughout the field!

It sure beats the train of cars driving single file.

Definitely better racing and the cars look cleaner.

All I need is for the F1 genie to get rid of DRS and consistently enforce track limits and I will be a very happy F1 fan again.
