He should be fired!

Oops. No reason this is in PARF. Well there is one reason. Me mess up.
|
I expect he will only get a slap
on the wrist but if he were white cancelled 4ever |
Try that sheet with Rutgers and it'll get real ugly.
|
I'm thinking a quality time out.
|
Moving to OT.
|
Yeah, Bobby Knight never did anything like that.
|
Oh wait, he slapped one of his own players.
|
He's suspended for the rest of the season

I can actually see someone ‘losing it’ and impulsively smacking somebody in the heat of an argument. This is not what happened, though. The guy pushed and shoved his way toward the guy then he smacked him when he was in range. Then afterwards he claimed to have been defending himself, which he seemed to back away from after seeing the video. Great role model for, you know, his community. |

What, you know, community are you talking about? Truth is Howard was going to walk right past and not say a word in the stupid shake hands line that shouldn’t even be there anyway. The other head coach grabbed him and insisted on hashing out their differences over the timeout that he called, which wasn’t needed. Howard was wrong to put his hands on the other coach and a suspension is warranted but I’m sure there were crazy words flying around from both sides. He should not in any way be fired. That is ridiculous |
I agree with the suspension.

Howard actually fought his way into the scrum, out of control, undisciplined, angry and extremely unsportsmanlike. If that's what people want in a top tier collegiate head coach, fine. But then he whacked a guy right upside the head. This, to me, is unacceptable for a head coach. The basketball community needs role models, not impulsive, violent thugs. |
Agree. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Yep, fire him. The coach is supposed to be THE leader, and lead by example. There is no reason whatsoever to throw punches at the other coach. Even if the other team just beat you by 50 points and told jokes about how fat his mother was.
He needs to be banned from future coaching at any level. Especially for kids. |
The bar has been set by previous coaches as noted above. Howard is a smart man and I’m sure he’ll learn from this. A lengthy suspension is warranted here, losing his job is not. It takes two to tango and the assistant coach who was mouthing off and fighting his way to get at Howard deserves serious punishment as well. The only reason he couldn’t get at Howard is the fact that he’s not 6’10” like Howard.
|
should be arrested and charged with assault and battery, and fired.
Screw these low impulse control, mutts..... |
I actually do agree somewhat, Scott. The bar is way too low for this kind of behavior. There would, however, be severe blow-back from the usual angles had they fired Howard. Which is exactly why they won't.
As for the other guy, Howard swung first. I understand your thinking but this was not two dumbazzes fighting in the mall downtown. Howard should have kept on walking. Instead, he did his best to engage and then escalate and finally striking. Howard should be fired. The other guy should be asked to submit his resignation. Neither should be coaching college basketball. |
