Broken tooth, but I got lucky

Last Sunday I was having dinner and suddenly felt a pain like an electric shock at tooth #4 (right bicuspid). I couldn't close my mouth without pain shooting through my jaw like I was being electrocuted.
Fortunately, I had an appointment for a cleaning the very next morning. Turns out I had a vertical fracture in that tooth that went all the way to the root. "There is no fixing it, it has to come out and you'll need an implant." He gave me a referral to an oral surgeon. When I called they didn't have an opening until late January! I was going to be eating soup for 2 months! In a few mintutes they called back and said they had a cancellation the very next day. Hell yes I'll take it!
Now I have an extra hole in my head, waiting for the stud to heal for an implant, but no pain or discomfort whatsoever. I really, really lucked out.

Not fun at all. But you lucked out.
I have said many times, I'd rather be lucky than good.
Heal quickly!

Best

That was good planning on your part to crack a tooth at the right time! Be glad it was not the day before Thanksgiving.

Just not good for the checkbook balance however.

A couple of months ago my dermatologist cut out a growth on my hand that he thought was a squamous cell carcinoma. The biopsy came back as just an ugly wart, so great news. After a few days my had started swelling from an infection. I had my yearly health check physical scheduled for the next day, and he prescribed an antibiotic, that knocked it right out. The swelling went away, and my hand healed up fine.

Sometimes the scheduling just works out right.

It's a pity JB Weld doesn't work for everything.

It's good that your teeth will be in going order for Christmas dinner.

I cracked a molar 10
days into a brand new dental policy we got to take care of wifes issues. Dentist was amused tgat when it started trying to abcesss that I was swishing with Titos vodka as a treatment. Told him I figured it was alcohol to kill nasties and safe for human consumption, with some pain killing help as a side effect

I’d put a small diamond in your new tooth to signify your good luck.

Well... someone has a high opinion of himself.

Sounds like ya had luck on your side with the cancellation. Get healed up! There's a lot of eating to do in the next few weeks!

I had one crack and luckily my dentist was able to drill it and fill it. He has been telling me for the last three years that I'm gonna need a crown but I'm in no big hurry.

I had the same last year, but a lower molar. As soon as the fracture happened, it was tender.
I didn't get to the dentist until a few weeks later and he told me it was already infected.

He said it should be pulled right away and worked me in within an hour. He said it wasn't that important to replace it due to my other teeth.

A day after it was pulled, I felt relief and it's been great since.

I had the same thing happen a year ago eating Pizza, PIZZA!

Cost me $3500 for one tooth, I’m still pissed.
