Your drive-through window is backwards

Went to Kroger today to pick up a prescription. As I pulled up to the drive-through, I thought this is weird. Instead of pulling up to the window and using the drawer, you pull up and use the pneumatic tube.

I told the girl who I could see out my passenger window, your drive-through is backward. She said “no, it’s always been like this. If we turned around, you wouldn’t be able to reach the tube.”

I triple checked my medicine to make sure it was the right one.😂

Pneumatic tube manufacturer was in cahoots with the architect.

Maybe the architect was from a right hand drive country and hadn't heard...

The Pharmacy drive through in our local grocery store is laid out the same exact way .

LOL. I've seen this at a bank drive-up teller, too. There were 3 or so lanes for the drive-up tellers at this particular bank, so the outer lanes had to use a pneumatic tube system to transport stuff from car to teller (and back).

That I understand. But this was one lane only with the tube on the left and the window on the right, as you drove through.

Two thoughts:
1. The stupid is strong with that pharmacist cashier.
2. I weep for our nation's future...

Yeah, a year or so ago I recall seeing something like this and I thought, "that looks backwards." A complication for nothing. But then I realized there was some traffic flow reason that the cars were routed one way around the building instead of the other.

I went to a CVS drive thru years ago, one where they had the drawer under the window and an actual telephone receiver on a cord mounted to the wall.

I picked up the phone and looking at the female Pharmacist behind the plate glass window as she says "Can I help you?"

I say "Hmmmmm.........been a long time, but this certainly brings back not so fond memories......"

She starts laughing as I go on further

"Did you put the hack saw blade in the cake THIS TIME?!"

We had a Taco Bell like that for decades. Then they demolished the building and put up one with a correct drive thru.

We have a burger joint "Checkers", around Jersey, that has two drive throughs, one on drivers side, another on passenger side.

Kinda awkward when you go through the one on the right side....

I'm assuming they put that in for when you have a passenger in the car, but not always the case..

A good design team would have altered the site plan to allow for the drive through stacking to work with the building, allowing the correct traffic orientation.

What happened here is the prototype didn't fit the site, so that 's why they flipped the traffic entry/ exit. I think someone chose to do the quick, easy and cheap approach rather than go 10/10ths and do it right.

This or not knowing the site, there maybe other traffic flow conditions that make this the best solution. The site I’m building out now doesn’t allow a left turn exit onto the main road and we’ve spent a lot of time trying to come up with the best traffic flow around the building to accommodate that limitation.

They did it that way so if they do something that pisses you off and you're prone to violence, the worst you'll do is pull out your .45 and shoot at the tube instead of the nice woman behind the window.

See that roof? They could have extended it, thus still utilizing the tube to stack two lanes side by side. This is what I'm talking about.

Our Kroger has the standard bank type drawer. My issue, I have to leave 2 feet of room to open my door and stand there because the drawer doesn't work with a pickup truck
