The Quark !

The Quark from Koenigsegg

The electric motor you're looking at delivers 335HP and 443 ft-lbs of torque and weighs just 63 pounds. Power is instantaneous and continuous up to 248 mp in the Gemera produced by Swedish hyper-car maker Koenigsegg.

If that's not enough you can opt for the Terrier, an EV drive unit made up of two Quark motors, plus its small-but-powerful inverter, and small low-ratio planetary gear sets at each output shaft. The unit serves up 670 hp and 811 lb-ft in a package that weighs just 187 pounds.

I suspect that future generations are going to view those of us who fooled with ICE's as Neanderthals. But we have fun, don't we? What's to tinker with with an electric motor? But I will admit that 0 to 248 mph in an uninterrupted fashion would be quite a trip.

Your fellow knuckle-dragger,
John[

I suspect there will not be a day when old grey hair guys sit around talking about rebuilding their electric motors. Cars will just be recycled (hopefully) and a new or used replacement is purchased. All cars will be disposable, never restored or rebuilt.

When they start to laugh I'll fire up the engine or if it isn't around I'll crank up the sound on the video and ask them to fire up their quirk so I can hear it. (mis-spelled on purpose)
Frankly 0 to 248 means nothing to me. I have no place where I can use that much power or speed. It does sound like some great bragging rights at the next party though. Of course, you may run into an astronaut and that would ruin everything.

I remember learning about people who poopood those newfangled automobiles saying they have no need to go 12 mph.

We brag about the performance of our IC engines, but the awe comes in that they barely contain fiery violence.

I've always been impressed by Christian's out of the box thinking and he seems to have no end of financing.
People must be lining up to give him money!

I recently tried to watch a video about converting an 80s Testarossa using Tesla motors and batteries.
- I got to a certain point and just couldn't watch the rest.

If I mentally squint, and dream of what may come, maybe, just maybe in the far off future we will have all artificial intelligence self driving cars that all interact and even communicate with the road, and maybe we can all ride in cars going 200 MPH in some areas. The laws of physics make 200 MPH something for the straight line roads only, no curves more than the most gentle of curves.

Back to the laws of physics, all forms of energy produce heat. To propel a vehicle at 200 or more takes a whole lot of power, and energy use goes up at an inverse square also a little more speed takes a lot more power. Maybe we will also have a Mr. Fusion power generator on every car. We will however never be able to use banana peels and trash as the fuel source and fusion or even fission only happens to elements with densities like uranium and above. It actually requires more energy that it produces to have a banana peel fuse, like in the Back to the Future movie. Ya can't change the laws of physics.

I suspect just from energy use alone we few cars will ever break 120 MPH in daily use.

I have been watching the series "Humans" on Amazon. It is about a future with androids that are very realistic. It starts with the androids as not "awake, or self aware" and the plot is they become individuals and aware of their individual identities. They are of course anatomically correct, and if an owner wants to have sex with the one that cleans and cooks and does the household chores it is possible. One episode was of course a wife that found out her husband had sex with the android. I suspect most wives would not be happy with their husbands having sex with the household android, and most men would not what their android having sex with their wife.

I can go to the Dollar Store and buy a digital watch that keeps better time than any mechanical one.

What's lost, though, is the beautiful synchronicity and amazing choreography that goes into making the mechanical watch work.

Same for ICEs vs E-engines.

Oh, and then there's the barely-contained fiery violence ...

Each generation of iphone is replaced by a sleeker one.
Aging digital tech is worthless.

i look at nice electric cars like the taycan and I can't help but wonder if anyone will care about them once the new improved generation comes around.

Tell that to the' rocket surgeons' who thought ethanol was a good idea. They can't break the laws of physics but they don't mind ignoring the data.
