Anyone know where to rent some boat stands?

Hi everyone,

Is there anyone in SoCal knows where I can rent couple adjustable boat stands? Something like these....

https://images.jamestowndistributors.com/images/boat_stands_and_blocks/brownell-boat-stands-for-sailboats-11597.jpg

Thanks.

Did you look on Craigs list or FB Marketplace for used?

Maybe ask at one of the shipyards in the marina?

or buy/rent a used shipping cradle
many new boats imported = many stacked shipping cradles in the boat yards
back many years cheoy-lee used teak cradles that we cut up and thru away
now it was reject pieces that they got in bulk but still 4x8 teak with tree rings ect
I guess they are ply or steel today but I bet some yard has a stack of them taking up room

I’ve seen boats on those and I’ve wondered how the heck they don’t slide out from underneath?

That has happened. It's best to chain them together to prevent this from happening.

they just balance the weight should not really support much
we used wood even on 70 ft boats to haul them out

Ron, you couldn't make them out of a few 2x4 or 4x4s? Once the boat is on them, nail a couple of cross bracing to keep them in place.

Look,
you have to jack the boat up at multiple spots at the same time before you can use wood to support them. That scared me.

There is a nice gentlemen who promised to lend me some. I am getting parts now.

Thanks everyone

They run chains to stands across from each other.

We’ve used 45 gallon drums lots of times for pretty big boats. You can use blocks of styrofoam too.

How big is this boat and how heavy? Can you make a crane of some kind out of 4x4 and use a elec. winch and straps just pull it off the ground? How high will this need to go, 3' off the ground. I still can't see how one can jack up a boat and drop it off onto the jack stands without a hoist or safe lifting mechanism? It will be needed it to get the boat off its stand once finished?
