Roomba upgrade

Installed new bumper absorbers (white) on the Roomba the other day. Just noticed that it's cleaning now and I can't hear it bump into anything like it did before.
I've had it for at least 10 years now...it's been excellent.

Other installed improvements....
extended life battery
hd brushes, rollers, and carriage
upgraded dust bin with motor.

parts upgrades is as fun as with a car.

Anyone else have one that old..or older?

I have a question about Roombas & others. We have wood floors and rugs. A couple of the rugs a a bit thick. How to they do with a situation like this? Not trying to jack the thread.

^^^ The rooms that my Roomba does/do are all carpeted..so there is no step-up.
The bathroom has a toilet surround and it does have problems with that...sometimes. It'll just stop in it's place until lifted.
The biggest problem mine has is cleaning around shoes with laces. If it picks up a lace...it stops it.

I think the newer ones are built to deal with those differences better.

I might like to get one if they can navigate rugs. Maybe I'll look into it. Thanks.

Mine is set to clean on Thurs and Sun at 1PM (don't want it at night...afternoon normally the house is empty)
The bin is normally half full after each of those cleanings. In the summer, I step it up to 3 times a week.

Completely happy with the results.

We have the same situation - as well as transitions from tile to wood that are about 1/2" thick. Our roomba handles them just fine (i8 model purchased about 6 months ago from Costco.) The wheel mechanism actually lift the roomba higher to clear such obstacles.

That sounds like a good reason for a newer one here. Mine doesn't have that.

Another problem area mine has is the fridge. The bottom of the door is the perfect height for Roomba to get wedged in. It doesn't happen every time..about 1 in 5.
I might have to extend the fridge legs.

Don’t have a roomba but saw a commercial recently that seems to imply they’ve updated it to recognize a dog’s accident.

Our Roomba goes right up onto the thick padded rug at our sink and the rug under the dining table. The rug at the sink is 5/8 or 3/4 of an inch thick.

Great info. Thanks. A good incentive to look into one. We don't have pets, so not worried about pet hair. We have wood, rugs, & tile, so the most problems are with dust and me tracking dirt into the house.
