Porsche Shops worth a visit in Palm Springs?
Anyone who frequents the area, any good shops worth a visit while I am in town?
Cheers

The actual Porsche Dealership there is pretty cool. Had quite a few cars worth seeing when I was there.

Heritage Upholstery is my go to guy. The smell & feel of new Porsche leather is intoxicating.
Nearby Thermal Motorsports park is there for the 1%er's. Palm Springs air Museum is worth the time.

I’m sure that movie won multiple awards. Not.

I don't know about any Porsche specialty shops out in Palm Springs. There's 911 Design in Montclare, about an hour west of Palmsprings. Then there's Vision Motorsport in Orange County but they are just another race oriented shop like 911 Design. I say go to the air museum or go up the aerial tramway to enjoy Palm Springs and its surrounding cities like Palm desert or Rancho Marage. Enjoy the peace and quiet. Weather is perfect this time of the year. If you have an itch to take a drive, get up and over to Idyllwild and enjoy the mountain town and the arts or get out to Salton sea to see the weird siht, typical Desert community.

It has been a few years since I was in Palm Springs. There are some interesting used car stores there. It is getting pretty hot in Palm Springs this time of year so air conditioning is a must while driving or staying in a hotel. If you need to cool off there are smaller towns such as Prescott which are at a higher elevation and are much more comfortable in terms of temperature...
I googled it and the driving distance from Palm Springs to Prescott is 4.5 hours! Having said that just make sure you have lots of water available wherever you go. Last edited by recycled sixtie; 04-30-2022 at 05:12 AM.. |

Thanks for the suggestions. Been down here a couple of times before riding my bicycle, like the area. Temp isn't too bad last couple of days. We have a nice villa with fantastic AC we are staying in
![]() May go up the tram today or out to Joshua Tree National Park.... See what the wifey prefers. Cheers

There isn't too much to do in Palm Springs but take in the view, eat, and go for a drive or walk in the desert. Not sure ifyou ahve already gone up the tram, take a jacket, its 30 degrees difference up top. Take a walk around Round Valley, its worth it. If they still have the donkey ride, do it. Coffee or a snack at the ski station to rest up due to thin air. its a huff and puff up there getting up some of the steep hills especially if one isn't use to walking or humping. Salton see or Mexico can be seen on a clear day.
To see anything else, you have to drive out and explore. Due to its location its at least an hour or more. When we go, we go around Salton sea, and drive through Anza Borrego State Park or go up to do the loop through Joshua Tree and loop around 29 Palms and get back to the hotel. Again, desert and not too much to write home about at 29 Palms. Pretty drive if you like the desert. I wouldn't suggest you drive up into the mountains since you have plenty up in BC. Now, where you are, its absolutely beautiful. |

If you have the time, highly suggest taking the road (Hwy 74) from PS up to Idyllwild. It's a fantastic driving road and very scenic.

Thanks for all the tips. Back home now and had a great time again.,
Look171, yes, it is lovely here (5 months of the year). Let me know if you are up this way, we can go for a ride, I have spare bikes! "ted" cough cough, wish I knew Jae was close, would have dropped in. Spoken on the phone and emailed a few times with him over the years. Again, thanks to all for the suggestions. We will be back here in the fall. It will become my go to riding training area when our weather sucks. Will drop in to see Jae and continue with the tourism aspect. When the wife comes it will be shorter rides with her and a little longer by myself and then some looking around. When I come solo it is all riding/running/hiking. Thanks again to those that replied!

If you make it up, let me know. You may have to slow down on the ride so I can keep up....
![]() We don't have a place. I rent a condo when I come down to ride and this time we were at the Westin Mission Hills in Rancho Mirage. Great property. Will stay there again. We looked at some purchase options this trip but not sure how much time we can spend there as we spend a fair amount of time in Kenya as well. For now, renting in the area will be our thing. For those bike riders, want to put a shout out to Palm Springs Cyclery. Stopped in a few years ago when I foolishly forgot my bike tools and nutrition. They were a massive help getting me set up and also gave me many great route maps to ride. Stopped in again this trip to spend some money and support them. Once again, amazing service. If you are ever in the area in need some bike related bits, please stop by and see them. Cheers
