COMPLETELY Inspired to at least try..... and see what happens !

soooooo last week one of our fellow pelicanheads posted a "CLOCK" that he made out of a headlight bezel and it was AWESOME!

i mean...... it was super cool....... !!!

i wanted one for my new garage...... but...... $$$$$.....

but i wanted one...... so i figured why not try and make one for myself with stuff i had around the garage (materials/building) the worst that can happen is that it looks like sheet and oh well......

so i poked around.......

found another pelicanhead that sold me an extra headlight bezel for $10 !

soooo now im off and running...... !!!! waahhooooooo !!!

bought a wall clock mechanism from amazon for $5. Painted the hands of the clock RED for some contrast.

Painted the Bezel Matte Black and Cleared it with some Matte Cleat (had the paint laying around the garage)

Painted the inner ring on the Bezel Gloss black for some contrast.

went to .99 store for a 8x10 picture frame.

Used the backing for the face of the clock.....

Used the glass from the picture frame to use as the glass for the front of the clock (learning how to cut glass THIS afternoon!)

I tried to source the 911" but fell short.... NO ONE had an extra emblem laying around... soooo went to a hobby store and bought some crafting wooded numbers for $3. I ended up cutting and trying to shape them but they didn't really come out that nice... but oh well ! I'm trying I'm trying dang it.

i even glued a fake screw on the bottom of the bezel..... how ridiculous... hahahahahaha..... silliness dang it.

almost done.....

I'm not hating how it came out.......

its NOTHING compared to the original Pelicanheads BUT....... i was inspired to try and i don't hate it...was fun.

That's really cool. I missed the original. I'd love to see it.

hey Steve..... ya i almost posted my build on his thread but i didnt want to feel like i high jacked his efforts...... so i made a new thread and gave him all the props.... it was HIS idea..... he inspired me.....

ill try and find the original.... i think he kept his bezel chrome......... and he used the actual porsche 911 font for his numbers... i just couldnt source that part for mine.... i can easily switch out the numbers if i came across a "911" emblem...... .

that's really cool. It looks great!

Yes, the red provides contrast, and in addition, it is reminiscent of the gauges in the 911, so it's perfect for many reasons.

The red on the clock hands is the same red I used on the garage wall stripe so it blends well.... those hands are really flimsy....

Thanks for the props guys...

BUT......

honestly all the props really shouldn't be directed at me, they need to go to our very own pelicanhead "little old man" and little old man incorporated....

HE is the one that made the clock and how cool that real js.... I just copied his idea and NOT very well at that.....

Thanks but mine is no where close to his......

It was fun though......

As I was once told here on this board...you created a piece of art. No comparison is necessary or called for. Well done!
