Which cell provider has better coverage - ATT or Verizon?
I know it depends on location but it’s really hard to tell from the maps each vendor provides. How did you make your choice? ATT is providing lots of discounts in my area which reeks of desperation.

As someone living in Oklahoma and traveling via car often on road trips, I have never had problems with coverage of AT&T. At my house I have just three bars, but OK coverage.
I have only had AT&T since my first phone, so I have no experience with other carriers.

From my experience (have tried several providers, currently with T-mobile), Verizon has the best network, by far.
Which sucks, because they're considerably more expensive, and suck at just about everything BUT network coverage.

Had both. Verizon seems to have better coverage in my area.

Verizon is better in my area as well.
I have had both and just suck up the extra expense for Verizon since AT&T was not good. It has been quite a while though since I was not using VZ. |

We had AT&T forever, and then switched to Verizon. I see no difference and I currently have one bar. In fact when I am away during the week with work, I’m in an area I would like you to get one bar.

My wife has Verizon and I have Consumer Cellular with an AT&T SIM. Coverage is about the same wherever we go in the US. But sometimes I get much better signal and vice versa. You probably can't go wrong with either option.
However, I dropped TMobile within a week of signing up due to poor coverage. This was many years ago so perhaps they have improved.

I dropped AT&T over 10 years ago because of poor coverage in the Boston area and went with Verizon. I'm sure AT&T has improved but I couldn't be happier with Verizon and 5G is fantastic.

AT&T here - never had a problem anywhere - in the USA or outside of it.

I had AT&T for more than 15 years and recently switched to Verizon. I hate it, Verizon is slow as molasses. No issues with phone calls but downloading data takes weeks.

Up at the Armadillo Ranch in central Texas there is no AT&T coverage. We keep a land line there because my brother's family is all AT&T. A few years ago we had the land line wash out at the local creek and the AT&T techs were using Verizon phones to call the home office when repairing the line. However, when we were back packing out in west Texas, my brother and his sons were getting coverage while those of us with Verizon didn't get squat.

Here in rural north Georgia Verizon has the best signal . We use Visible which is owned by Verizon and uses their network.

Western Michigan (and most of northern Indiana), AT&T is spotty at best. Verizon (my carrier) is pretty consistent. Although I live near beach towns so on weekends and during most of summer, my service is only 2 bars. During the week and winters, 4 bars all the time.
T-Mobile on the other hand...forget about it. They shut off all the Sprint towers here so the closest service you'll get is over an hour away even though their coverage maps state otherwise. |

My old boss had to change from AT&T to Verizon because at his house he had cell coverage only standing at the window of his upstairs bedroom's bathroom. He said he gained 10 pounds after the change in providers because he did not have to run upstairs to make or receive calls with Verizon and he could sit in his recliner and talk.
My brother is on Verizon, and has a Android phone. It was interesting in Boca Raton, FL as we went back to the hotel from the Revs Institute car museum. My Garmin GPS said the road was closed ahead, and rerouted us. We could see the hotel and we were going away from it when the GPS froze up. So my brother used his phone to get directions, and I asked Siri for directions. The two women's voices were giving us conflicting directions, and neither were right. Then my GPS un-froze so all of a sudden we had three women bichin at us to go different directions, and all just led us to a blocked road that I guess was so recent it had not yet been reported. I used dead reckoning and knew we had to go towards the hotel so I ignored all three voices and we went what looked right. Within two miles all three were giving us the same information, and we shut down the phones. We were both laughing pretty hard at hearing three women give us conflicting orders, and all of them were wrong! Dead reckoning saved the day.

My wife's phone went from ATT (rock solid) to Verizon (never more that 1 bars at the house).
Unless you travel, ask folks in your area what they use. What good is great coverage if you can't answer the phone in your own home?

Have had AT&T since they provided cell service. Then moved to Auburn, CA and horrible service. All 3 neighbors said to switch to Verizon. I did and the service is much better. However . . . the service at the Victra Verizon store was beyond terrible. Complete idiots.

I switched to Tracfone which uses Verizon's cell towers and the clarity is excellent. Never tried AT&T so can't compare....
