Jeez,my two heroes. Went to Road America and Indy many times in the early &70's. In fact back to R/A over the 4th of July this year. This picture is my wife sitting in a Can Am car at R/A in 1973. That crowd to the rear of her is around Mark Donahue and The Porsche 917/30. They wouldn't let her sit in that one!

Don't know if anyone remembers this oddball car but the story is worth reading. Sorta the last of the homebuilt cars to run or try to run....

Hah! Ken and Davey Hamilton were hometown heroes for me! Boise, baby!

This car was about the same era as the Roman Wheels car that Little Al started his Indy 500 career on. Definitely the end of the innovation era. Pretty soon it was all March and Lola (and Penske PC's)

Wow, what a crash. Okay, if I had a hundred bucks to bet I'd put it on Herta, in spite of what I feel about the owner of his team, because that would be a great story if he could win from last place, assuming they let him race a car that hasn't qualified.

Dallara makes a stout car. Glad to see him walk away.

He keeps his qualifying spot on the grid, but essentially must race a car in which he hasn't practiced.

I'd be thrilled if Grojean doesn't push someone into the wall.

Four pretty hard crashes into the walls . Glad all four are ok . Blistering fast and very hot track temps plus winds picking up . Should be an exciting finish . Also great to see 300k fans in the stands and infield .

These new cars have given the Indy 500 some exciting finishes the last few years.
