Some extraordinary examples of truly stupid people but the clip of the woman trying to pump gas with a disconnected nozzle is the zenith of oblivious existence.

That was bad. The overall number of clueless people running around loose out there is starting to get a bit worrisome.

Captured this woman a few years ago. I got out of my car and pointed out the 'out of service' bag on the nozzle and said the pump is not working. She then proceeded to take the bag off and tried to pumping gas................

Wow!

I see these sorts of things frequently, and most of the time I assume they have been faked by someone trying to "go viral" online. I assume there's usually one real instance of this sort of thing that some moron actually did, but that most of the other pics are fakes. It's interesting to hear from someone that took one that was real. I can't even imagine being in the situation that you were in, especially when it continued to be stupid even after you tried to help clue her in.

I only wish I have recorded a video of a lady that pulled up at a gas pump and then realized her tank fill was on the other side of the car, So she drove in a circle and pulled up again like that would fix it. Then she drove to another pump going the same way. She pulled up to three different pumps and she could not get gas at any of them. She finally drove off, likely thinking that gas station is all messed up and the pumps are on the wrong side. I was just pumping gas and laughing.

Nope. I actually captured this one in the wild. The guy across the pump from me looked at me, smiled and say, 'dude, what was that.' All I could think of saying was 'Darwin asleep at the wheel.'

Adding insult to injury, she threw the yellow bag in the trash! I actually had to tell her, 'NO, you cannot do that!'

Fantastic. Yeah, I'd have laughed a lot. I have to admit that there have been one or two times that I remember being really distracted that I've done that once, parked on the wrong side, and then moved to another pump and quickly realized "idiot, you didn't switch sides." Then I switched sides. But I suspect you're absolutely correct, she told someone later that all of the pumps were backwards.
