About to Transition from DirecTV/ Sat to Streaming UT..
With ever increasing fees, taxes and general lack of any 'fresh' or new programing we're at the crossroads to the dark side. I know this has been discussed here prior, but the lack of fresh, or at least new (Fall) season content is ridiculous. I think that Covid to a large degree, postponed the development of next seasons shows and delayed new ideas.
After a miserable Summer of shows that were nothing more than recycled crap, reruns from 2+ years ago, we're d-u-n. Our bill for 2 boxes that operate 3 TV's costs us $167/ mo. After much research and speaking to people that have streaming services already, seems UT is the clear winner offering the most programing including local news affiliates for the least $. So now the only small hurdle is we need 2 Firesticks and we are ready to go. We can also abandon our DVR unit as UT has that cloud based. Seems there is no downside at all, rather the next obvious evolution of delivering content to the home. I would be curious as to if there are any detractors here and why. Thanks!

I switched a couple of months ago. I could not be happier with YouTube TV.

In addition to showing a bunch of reruns; I heard a couple of weeks ago that NBC and possibly the other 2 major networks are considering/moving towards only having primetime programing for 2 hours M-F and releasing the 10pm (east coast) time slot to the local networks. Due to addition of CW, Fox, reality, and sports programming popularity.
We watch a fair amount of HGTV and their model is new season plus recaps of the prior season on the same night. The recaps get listed as "new" on the guide so my DVR picks them up as well, I just delete but it is a PITA. Sort of feels like a scam to get you to watch their stuff.

^^^^^yes, that's exactly what I'm talking about. Old programming where the title is altered or add 1 min of 'new' content but it's the same show.

We have Google Fiber, no complaints. However 2 years ago they dumped TV programing and just went to fiber internet only. Initial panic, then adjusted to streaming. Been very happy with streaming so far. We have Amazon Prime (fading), Netflix (really fading), You Tube TV (best so far, has all local channels), Showtime (watching Ray Donavan). Waiting for Yellowstone season 5 to come back and Outer Range also. Except for local news, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune (both on You Tube TV) no network tv, none.
