Mini Max Kart Lateral G’s…

My son had his last kart race of the season last night. Sadly we missed most of the season again due to my busy schedule and other summer activities.

Anyway, I was scrolling through his Mychron (Aim Dash) and found a nifty screen after the last race. I had no idea how many G’s a kart could pull but here it is (with 2 year old Mojo tires on a grippy but cold track).

1.73 G’s. Not bad. A Spec Miata is around 1 with peaks up to 1.5 with Hoosiers.

Back when I raced karts 15 years ago, my head was like a bobble doll after my first race of the season. The neck strain was huge. On the big tracks we ran where we could compare lap times to cars, only winged cars were faster. Considering our top speed was only 100 mph, it meant our cornering speeds were significantly faster.

Obligatory pic:

I wish they had go carts for 6’-4” 275lb drivers. I think would be cool to take to the track for bombing around on a low budget. I’ve even looked into extra large go kart plans

At VIR, they had a go kart track and the only way I could be competitive with my friends was to run my friends off the track or ram them. I hope it was not beyond me either to cut across the grass.

Always enjoy watching the Mini and Micro's racing. Warburg is a nice track but hopefully you guys can run at CKRC again next year.
