This will always be one of my favorite 45s.

The lid on my parents' console hasn't been raised in decades. It's a nice piece of furniture in their unused living room....

I'm sure it still plays, but the speakers were shot by '75 .... It was meant for Bing Crosby....

not Zeppelin IV or Machine Head cranked to 11 .

I also used a match book as a points gap tool in an emergency. Do you remember points? Rotors? Condensers?

^^^ I never had an 8 track that didn't require a matchbook as a shim.
Maybe it was the bumpy/back roads back then...lol

There are probably more 8-track tapes still around than matchbooks! I never had to use one..... But...

8-tracks .... supposedly designed with 4 tracks with two of each, L & R for stereo. I recall the Allman Brothers' Beginnings tape had a penchant for playing 1 track (L) of a song with the (R) track being a totally different song....

And y'all wonder how I got this way ?

This is my Mom's portable stereo record player from the late 50s. It is a Zenith with the Cobra-Matic turntable. I have it and the stand for it, it works but I want to clean it up better and restore it a bit. The record was mine and my Sister's and has been on the turntable since the early 70s. Lol.
Anyone ever seen one of these?

I have a friend that does dj sets using two of these things and a stack of 78s.

He has a huge curated collection of 78s and it's mind blowing that dirty, drug fueled music was popular even in the 20s and 30s.

Definitely similar and even older than that by quite a few years.
