The lid on my parents' console hasn't been raised in decades. It's a nice piece of furniture in their unused living room....
I'm sure it still plays, but the speakers were shot by '75 .... It was meant for Bing Crosby.... not Zeppelin IV or Machine Head cranked to 11 ![]() |

I used the match book as a shim. YMMV
I also used a match book as a points gap tool in an emergency. Do you remember points? Rotors? Condensers?

^^^ I never had an 8 track that didn't require a matchbook as a shim.
Maybe it was the bumpy/back roads back then...lol

There are probably more 8-track tapes still around than matchbooks! I never had to use one..... But...
8-tracks .... supposedly designed with 4 tracks with two of each, L & R for stereo. I recall the Allman Brothers' Beginnings tape had a penchant for playing 1 track (L) of a song with the (R) track being a totally different song.... And y'all wonder how I got this way ![]() |

He has a huge curated collection of 78s and it's mind blowing that dirty, drug fueled music was popular even in the 20s and 30s.

Definitely similar and even older than that by quite a few years.
