I got my first model of a 911 when I was 2 1/2 and I’d wanted a 911 since I was 3. I finally bought it in 2015 and I ain’t planning to get rid of it any time soon. I’m hard-pressed to think of anything I’d consider selling it for except a Citroen DS, and I haven’t done that yet. And I still go goo-goo whenever I see one on the street, despite having had one in the garage for seven years. So I’m gonna say no. If I were in a place to get another fun car that was cheap (I need to deacquisition, not acquire) then a 924S would be on the short list.

Still a fan of the air cooled 911’s. Later models are growing on me though.

Yes, just built up a type 911 LSD trans for my old warbird. Will drive it till it’s illegal. Then will STILL drive it in the mountains with known local authorities who will give not a rats azz….

I dropped sports cars when I got back to riding motorcycles, but once I decide I'm too old for bikes, I plan on another Porsche (facelift 987/997).

We made our own skateboards out of old roller skates. No urethane wheels in those days.

I still like my air-cooled 911 and will probably keep it forever. I like the old cars. I think a newer Porsche would be a waste on me - I don't drive anywhere that I could take full advantage of the car. I might find a gently used Cayman with PDK someday or a Macan if I decide I need something without a manual transmission.

I would love a 996 or Cayman for a daily driver. My work commute is a whopping 6 miles of surface streets. Getting another ‘82 911SC is likely a pipe dream.

Yeah, we did the same. I still remember the first time I rode a commercially made board with rubber wheels, how weird it felt, and quiet. Did Porsche Design ever make a skateboard? I know they've done bikes and scooters...

If I had unlimited money, I would buy other marques. Like an E type or an F type. Maybe a modern McLaren or a Lambo. Hey I might even get a nice Range Rover or an RS3. But alas, funds are limited so I stick to Porsches.

My dream car for some time has been an "Intermeccanica Convertible D." It would have to be a new one, since good used ones are snapped up instantly when the become available. Not a real Porsche, but as close to getting a new 356 convertible as possible. I just think it would be a fun car to experience.

Still love the cars. Kicking myself for ever selling them, especially the 993. Constantly having to talk myself out of a 997 C4. Just not worth it since we’re retiring to the VI in May and a 911 would be useless there. Lots of good discussion here, of a caliber rarely seen elsewhere.

Yes, I am still partial to Porsche's - especially air-cooled ones.

I do sometimes think about what other car brand & model I would replace my '87 911 with, but I can't think of anything that I would like to work on and drive more than what I already have.

I've had muscle cars and British sports cars and I can't see going back to any of those, and a high-end Italian sports just isn't for me. Not only is there no substitute for a Porsche (as the ad said), there is no replacement....at least not for me.

It I was to change to the dark side; I'd choose a really nice Sunbeam Alpine.

I've had 2 air cooled cars and way way back a 944. Raced wheel to wheel with one of the 911s and grew up around them. Sold my early car a couple years ago and really haven't missed it at all.
At some point, I don't even think it's about the car anymore, as much as the memories you've made in that car. Glen, another Carrera wouldn't be the same as the one you've had for 27 years and experienced a ton of memories and adventures in. It's your forever car, no doubt.

For me that car isn't a Porsche. I like Porsches, but I also like a bunch of other stuff. I would never pay for an air cooled car what I sold mine for. Never, and mine was dialed in very nicely. But I would for a newer Porsche and probably will in the next few months.

Also agree about motorcycles, that has been a much bigger part of my life. I'm constantly on or planning a motorcycle trip....next one Croatia....

I still have a thing for Porsche but the older I get, the more I gravitate to the older cars. I sort of tripped over this 1970 914 that needed a bunch of mechanical refreshing but was fairly rust free. It also had a ton of documentation from new including the original owners info. I tracked him down and he was local to me. He owned it for 40 years. I've done brakes, fuel system, engine out to deal with leaks, shifter bushings, a bunch of other stuff. I had him over the other day to look at the car he hadn't seen for over a decade and go for a drive. I can work on the older stuff without too much stress. I loved my 996 C4S but chose to sell it when a buddy bugged me to buy it for a while and the price was right. Not sure I'll own a newer 911 or Boxster/Cayman but I have nothing against them.

Whatever Porsche is next for me will either be a Targa or Intermeccanica Convertible.

I loved my 356 Nothchback but the sight lines for me were horrible in terms of peripheral vision Great, fun car to drive.

When we move to South Carolina I'll probably get back into it. We just finished designing a garage apartment for the property and I'll have the time to dedicate to a project.
