When I moved to Oklahoma City I was in a new city, and I did not know anyone but my co-workers. All of them were married, and not interested in going out. OK, I did know my grandparents, and I loved them dearly, but hanging at the grandparents on Friday night was not my goal.
As we were working on a processor I asked two of them what is the best night club to go to. Remember this is the 1970s, so no internet, just a phone book to look up places to go. They said I would really like the place. They recommended a place right down the road called the Red Dog Saloon. It was Friday night in the big town, so off I went that evening. I had no idea what to expect. Turns out the Red Dog is a notorious biker bar strip joint. I got to the door and they said the admission is to either buy two draw beers, or for a dollar more, a pitcher. So I ordered a pitcher, and sat down with a token that the waitress knew was for a pitcher and a glass. I sat down and noticed the floor was covered in a inch of sawdust. There was a biker dude at the bar that was huge, NFL linebacker size. He had a black t-shirt with the large easy to read letters of F**K on his chest. He had on spike bracelets and spiked choker necklace, and he was covered in tattoos. They brought my pitcher, and I was way too broke to not drink it, so I stuck around and drank my beer. Then I saw the biker chick type go out on stage and start stripping. OK, so my "friends" at work sent me to a biker strip joint. I drank my pitcher of beer and went to off load some of the processed beer. The "men's room" was a long trough for a urinal, and the wall between the stage and the urinal was broken down. It looked like the Kool Aid man ran through the wall several times, so the wall was just not there. OK, back to the room, and relieve myself. My coworkers were laughing at sending me to the Red Dog, and asked all about it. I decided to ask other people for advice on where to go out on in the evening. The next week there was a local PCA regional event, and I met some nice friends that I have know now for most of my life. If you have never moved to a new city and do not know anyone at all, it takes a while to make friends and build a social life. Or it did before the internet and cell phones.

Another "famous" bar in Daytona. and being young we thought it was wonderful, it wasn't. It always smelled like barf. We loved it anyway.
