Amusing (not) was when a hatchet got deep into my anklebone and they had to give me serious antibiotics into my then 35yo butt. Nurse was understating things saying "this is kind of going to hurt, and I even threw some lidocane in there" and wow she wasn't kidding!

Had the "old guy" flu shot 2 weeks ago. My arm was seriously sore and a feeling of blah for a couple days was the extent of my reaction. All good if it prevents flu.
Never did flu shots until I got hit at Jackson Hole, missed a day of skiing, had a miserable flight home and missed several days of work after a vacation. Sickest I have been since having Hep A at 10 years old. Started annual flu shots the next year and all has been well. My employer even started providing them on site for those who wanted them which made things easy.

My wife and I both had the geezer strong shot a few weeks back. I big nothing. My arm felt like I was stuck with a needle for some reason, but no adverse effect at all. The next day I forgot all about it, same for my wife. It could have been a saline injection, and I hardly felt the injection.
They used one neat cool gizmo, it was a pre-filled syringe and needle. It had a hinged cap, that went back on after the vaccine was injected. No need to worry about underdose or overdose. Put the cap back on and drop in needle disposal box.

Not really on topic but yesterday I went to the doc so they could exam a severely sore left shoulder.
Turns out I needed to catch up on some other stuff while there. So, tetanus shot and flu shot in right shoulder. Then a blood draw from the right arm, lol. Actually not sore at all. Thought I would be from the Tetanus.

It's been over 30 hours now since the flu shot.
If I touch my arm, I can feel it, otherwise no pain or soreness at all.

I think the flu shot is maybe the most important shot to get for the general population.
It may sound like just another winter illness...but depending on your health, could kill you. If you are in good health...it still can be terrible. Ask me how I know.... '

I am 67 and I get them all. If they offer it, I get it. I want to give myself a fighting chance to remain healthy.

It's titled for Michigan...but I think it applies to all States.

Have never gotten a flu shot and have never had the flu (at least as an adult). Will probably stick with that program.

It makes a slit/cut, not a hole.

My guess is that the needle doesn't cut a plug, it probably just creates a tiny slit.

If you look at the tip of a hypodermic needle with a microscope you can see how the needle makes a cut rather than pokes a hole.
