Good sources online or local for appliances
There are various online appliance vendors. I wonder about the service that you get from them.
The missus wants a specific Fisher Paykel dishwasher (hopefully, we get a good one). I see some places like AJ Madison that sell it and say they have X number in stock. Some of these places have a mix of reviews (which are hardly trustworthy whether they are good or bad). We went to a smallish appliance place in town a few weeks ago and talked to a guy. He gave off a weird vibe, and then there are a bunch of bad reviews for the place online. How in the hell do you get something specific if you aren't game to just take whatever someone's got in a box in the back?

For something like that I try major chains.. Yeah I prolly pay more but for me it's worth it.
Most of my appliances come from PC Richards and they service what they sell. Turns out Best Buy has the Fisher but IDK about service. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/fisher-paykel-dishdrawer-24-top-control-built-in-dishwasher-black-stainless-steel/6354279.p?skuId=6354279

Umm. What model does Mrs Steve want to get?
I've just stopped buying Fisher and Paykel because they have become so crappy. They used to be good then a Chinese manufacturer called Haier (effectively) bought them out and started putting there parts and expertise into them to make them cheaper to produce. They also bought some odd appliances and put there own label on them. Similarly crappy. I'm buying Bosch dishwashers from now on. |

The one that she wants is a panel ready unit, probably one of the most expensive. |

Umm. For the rental next door I bought a F&P dishwasher with extended warranty and it broke down so often the warranty people replaced it with a different model of F&P dishwasher (high end and expensive model) and it has been fine for years. It was a full height dishwasher.
The one I just got rid of was a single draw Dishdrawer model that had to be repaired about once a year, or with a bit of luck would be almost two years without anything major. I was going to take it to the pistol club and execute it (but being Scottish I sold it as suitable for parts.) If Mrs Steve insists on a dishdrawer model make sure you get the extended warranty. |

The one that she wanted was a dual drawer, panel ready model w/stainless interior. I talked her into a Bosch. Hopefully, we can get the one that she wants.

Maybe I should have just shut up. And you and Mrs Steve would have been OK. They are very popular around here. But I did have REALLY bad luck with mine. I've bought half a dozen over the years and they have got steadily more unreliable. However, some peoples ones have been fine. The second to last time it crapped out I had been doing electrical work and turning the power off and on at the breaker/fuse board multiple times. I forgot to turn the dishwasher off at the wall. this was enough to kill the main computer ($300 repair.) |

Not everything that comes out of China is bad, but if I've got options, and one option is questionable and the other is decent, I'm going to skip the questionable option.

The closest place that was an authorized vendor for the Bosch that the missus wanted was in Dallas >200 miles away, but that's not a big deal. I called them, they said Bosch's order site said "Maybe Dec, or 12-14 months." LOL but there are some online places that say that they have them in stock.
We're now also looking at Miele.

GF put Miele into her (high end) rental place. You can feel the quality as you close the doors.

There is a full blown appliance store called ABT in Glenview, IL. They match any price, their customer service is stellar. Every time I drive buy that store, the parking lot is full - it is almost as they are giving stuff away. They have a complete on premise, recycling center: cardboard, plastic, Styrofoam, etc.
If I buy new, I'm buying there. https://www.abt.com/

We had a Bosch at the last house and though it was super quiet, the drain pump was easily jammed with food bits and was a PITA to clean out. It also had some weird circuit board issue that would sometimes fail to start properly. You had to follow a very precise button sequence, wait to hear the water, and then it would run. If the water did not start you had to open the door and start the button sequence again. I have owned a lot of Bosch tools over the years and they were great. This dishwasher belonged in the landfill.
Our current dishwasher is Whirlpool and has been flawless for 2 years. Not as quiet as the Bosch but never ever fails or gets jammed and cleans great. It just works.
