I use a browser plugin called Stylus, and it helps a ton. Especially when people just grab full-size photos from another source. If you know some basic CSS you can easily fix it.

That screws over anybody reading on a desktop tho, as large images make the posts super hard to read.

Reading it on Tapatalk screws nobody over.

Also, Tapatalk allows you to choose your upload size and automatically scales.

Forget the pictures how about the catalog. Search window is like a slot machine, wonder if the bmw guys get Porsche parts popping up? Anyone else have trouble finding things in the catalog?

No worries....in two more days, it will be down for the weekend...lol

What if you post an image as a link with Tapatalk?

RobFrost 11-30-2022 11:28 PM

Not so sure about that scenario. But it is good for reading when images haven't been scaled well.

Tapatalk is OK for occasional use. It pales in comparison to a computer with a 21 inch or bigger high res monitor.

Dudes... .this is still annoying as ****. Who do we have to email to get automatically resized images? I have images on my phone, and I want to share to the forum.

If I use tapatalk to upload, they still come in huge. So I can upload to imgur from my phone, but resizing in imgur no longer works.... so that would mean I'd need to get the images onto my desktop, resize in photoshop, then upload to imgur, then share on the forum. Obnoxious.

PM one of the mods listed ;)

For a free forum, Pelican is wonderful. For photos, go to web browser mode, and forget Tapatalk. Use the built in photo upload feature that works great.

On any new post, go to advanced mode, click the large blue bar that is pretty simple, and says click here to upload photos. Find the photos and drag and drop and then say save, and they are on Pelican.

New forum software would be very expensive, and even more expensive is the time and money to migrate the forum.

You are free to set up your own forum on a computer and pay for the bandwidth to allow a bunch of car folks to chat. Look into the costs, Pelican is eating those costs to give us a free playground.

I use Tapatalk to view this forum, when I need to edit something I have to go to the actual forum. The picture thing allows an option for picture size on Tapatalk and I always pick the middle option.

Don't kid yourself ... nothing is free ;)

Some simple things that wouldn't cost anything but a few minutes of someone's time.... but naw.

The photos are on my actual phone tho. I want to not type out a response on my tiny phone screen, and I don't want to have to transfer photos to my desktop. I'm sure most people are like this....

Would be cool!

I think this place is fine... but that feature would be really nice. Right now if you post a copied URL/link to large image it just jacks the entire thread. The old school BMW and Jag forums I frequent have this feature, but not the most popular porsche forum on the internet?

Makes no sense.

Literally nothing.

HTML has a style indicator that you can set image width to be a percentage of screen width.

stevej37 08-09-2023 12:46 PM

cabbage....lots of cabbage.

It really doesn't, it's a huge extra step compared to pasting images from your phone.
