I'm all for it; I habitually scale images to about 1000 px wide @72ppi.. Sometimes they're five times that big off my phone.
|
I did not read the entire thread, but probably posted or have posted several times, about posting pictures from my phone. I use my phone 99.9% of the time when surfing PPOT.
Tell me which picture looks better on a laptop or monitor or do they look same. I did not upload the actual size of 3.5.mb. They all look the same on my iPhone. Small. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1691634271.jpg Medium. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1691634308.jpg Large. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1691634346.jpg |
Those are all fine. But one one person posts a massive image it screws up the entire view of the thread if you're on desktop.

They don't care.
|
I always select the "medium" size when I post a picture. Seems to be okay.

and it takes an honest 2-3 minutes to upload a 3 meg file?
|
Please crop and resize images to 800 pixels wide with Paint for my comfort and enjoyment. Thank you.

Wow, how can anyone stand to pay attention to this guy?

I love that he answered the guy 15 months later like it was yesterday. Awesome

The difference I notice between my small medium and large pictures, is that I can read the words better on the large picture. I guess a lot of detail is lost in the smaller pictures.

but the nipples are so small in the pron?
well it is winter time and it's brisk out. |
The board already resizes every image that gets uploaded to the board.
THere are 2 ways to put images into posts. Option 1: You can upload the image to the board. During that process, the board limits the image to a maximum of 800pixels wide. Option 2: Or you can find an image on the Internet, get the address/link to that image, and post that using BB Code. If you do that, the image shows up at the size that the image is. I try to always use option 2 so I'm not filling up the PP servers full of BS images, and using up their bandwidth for BS images. If I was uploading pics onto the 911 or Boxster/Cayman tech board that had to do with a problem/solution, I probably wouldn't care, but most of the images in OT have NOTHING to do with Porsches or selling parts for Porsches. Videos are something else entirely. Videos come from the video site, so the URL that the video site provides (which has nothing to do with PP or their servers) is what sets the size of the video. The other option is to invest in a monitor with higher resolution so the page displays when a large image or video is posted. If you don't like folks using option 2 or posting large videos, then the solution is going to be for PP to disable posting things that way. From then on if you want to see YT videos, you'll get a link and the link will take you to another page where you can watch the video. |
