I've found that Prime has a better selection of good viewing material than Netflix.

I have both, but even with it's huge amount of movies..Netflix is hard to find something worth-while watching.

I still have and watch hundreds of DVDs. I also have lots of CDs, tapes and vinyl records that I listen to. Although I do have streaming services for TV and music. Sometimes I just like old school.

^^^ got any 78's?

Do Blu-rays count?
I have just a few of them...

Doesn't show the bottom shelf.
My favorite one of all is 'U-Turn' by Oliver Stone.

I still rent DVD's from Netflix. I never bought a DVD and never purchased VHS tapes before that.

Me too.
Their old movie selection isn’t great, and the Netflix produced movies and series are awful to me.
I’d cancel Netflix if it were just me.

ramonesfreak 11-29-2022 02:13 PM

I do.

I have about 1,000 concert dvd/blue rays. Much prefer the control over the audio that I have compared to streaming…and choices.

I have 350 movies and I still watch my favorites especially documentaries and old surf films, including Morning of the Earth, and cult classics that you just don’t see streaming like Withnail and I, Midnight cowboy, etc. art films….

I’ll have to admit that streaming new fiction releases doesn’t interest me much, with few exceptions. We have Netflix and prime etc…I spend most of the time flipping through looking for something. It’s mostly just a big waste of time to me

I stream music as well but I have about 7,000 CDs and Vinyl records. I love my media collection

It has been while since I watched one. The DVD player I had in my office died. Now I would have to watch it on my computer.

DVDs are most useful for traveling. Long airport layovers go faster with something to watch.

Haha, my first Blu-ray was Blazzing Saddles!!! My second was Vanishing Point.
I still have a DVD/VHS combo player as well as the Blu-ray player. Yes, they all work.

I still have my selection of DVD's that I like to watch. Thanksgiving I wanted to watch Planes, Trains and Automobiles but no luck on Netflix and Amazon wants me to sign up for Paramount + to view it or pay to rent.

So when I want to watch an old favorite I can throw it in the player anytime I want.

Also, the last few years I've been getting "screeners" in the mail leading up to The Oscars. Don't know how that happened but I'll take it.

Here's last week's crop of "For Your Consideration" films....

You do not own any of those movies in the cloud. They can alter, censor or just take them away at any time.

check out the actors list on the U-TURN case above.
They omitted Billy Bob Thornton.

I actually watched the trailer for it just now, looks a bit like a B movie to me…

Billy Bob’s name is on there, it’s under the title.

I just bought a blu ray player for my new tv. Same cable issue as others have had. I picked up a used dvd set of Homicide Life on the Street which isn't available on steaming services.
My family thinks I'm nuts

It's an Oliver Stone movie made in 1997.
Watch it and report back....it's 'one of a kind'

Jenn Lopez when she was a young girl...Joaquin Phoenix as TNT....such a great movie.
Sean Penn, Jon Voight, Nick Nolte, Billy Bob,....more

B movie or not...it's a great movie.

New TV's only have HDMI inputs. I had to buy a bunch of stuff so my wife could watch Buffy.

One of the HDMI inputs died on my family room TV. Bought a HDMI to component box to fix it.

On the DVD front, I have a lot. I watch them if I can't stream the show easily. I have considered converting them to files to put on my NAS. Haven't bothered yet.

That's the series I originally bought - just for power outage use.

I've only watched a few episodes.

It's a classic!

The neighbor kid bought an 86 fiero as his first high school car. I gave him a cheap trick cassette to go with it.

He was very confused.
