No Female 007

There's been a lot of speculation, but Barbara Broccoli just put much of it to rest. 007 will remain a male character. The actor cast will likely be in his 30s, able to play Bond for the next 10-15 years. No selection is imminent, probably a good ways off.

I'm not really surprised. I had assumed the other was a move to create excitement/chatter/hype, and maybe test the waters.

So much of the Bond character is his charming the girlfriends of the evil mastermind and surviving by seducing the ladies. Men are just studs and sexy, yet the women would be a slut, it is the double standard that has always existed right or wrong.

And he is tough, so fights and survives lots of deadly fights, and the many mega stunts really require a man. I know Hollywood loves pushing the 5 foot 100 pound lady than can whip three huge professional bodyguards all at once, the professional fighters, and it is silly when one man does it, much less a petite pretty lady punching a 250 pound guy and knocking him back 6 feet and ignoring physics.

The day a bantam weight boxer whips a heavyweight boxer in a boxing match I will believe 100 pound women have a chance to beat men.

Bond must remain a British, good looking yet tough man.

I think Daniel Craig has been the best Bond so far. He is just tough enough, yet looks good in a tux or a bathing suit.

I did like Charlize Theron's fights in "Atomic Blonde" - one of the best action/spy movies.

Just the thought of a female 007 driving a right hand drive stick shift DB5 makes me shutter.

Don't they have that in every bond. There's a bond girl or 2 or 3, they often help Bond, some a lot, some a little.

Yep, Charlize did a great job. Angelina Jolie also does a great job in action flicks. Rebecca Ferguson does a pretty good job in the MI movies with Tom Cruise too.

The problem is that Glenn's a crusty old, conservative guy that can only suspend his disbelief to a point.

I have an inside track on this subject, trust me, he will be from the UK only as long as the Broccoli family is involved. Someone recently suggested to me that a certain Australian actor could be considered...lol...no.

LOL!

What they really need is a gender fluid 20 year old that goes by ze/zey/zem. You know, to grab a younger more hip audience. Instead of fighting, they could hug and talk through their problems, until zey were super offended, and then look out!

THIS.

In pure fantasy movies like the Hobbit, or some Science Fiction movie with aliens, they still have to make some sense.

When a human can do totally over the top superhuman deeds, and defy the basic laws of physics, nope, I can't go there.

i still think gillian anderson would be a fantastic bond.

her character in "the fall" was already like 80% there, esp in regards to sex.

Agreed but if you consider Sir Roger Moore, I'd have to say they lost the tough guy plot with him. And he had bigger breasts than some of the female co-stars.

We all liked that film because she got in the bathtub, naked. It is a great movie though regardless.

So they're saying the double nought spy would have been Jethro and Ellie Mae never had a chance?
That ain't right. Ellie Mae could have taken on Pecker Galore and then wiped out Auric Goldfinger with her double barreled slingshot in one take.

I have to think a lesser known actor is the ideal for Bond. Someone who’s already a star might be less willing to essentially put the rest of his career on hold for the next 10-15 years.
