Out here in west Morris we don't have that issue but when I was living in Paterson I got my fill of city stuff.

They're already here: I-77 at Catawba Road, just east of Lake Norman. Rather strange the first couple of times, but they do seem to work pretty well.

They are putting a roundabout here, on a major 2 lane truck route.

80 and 81 both have a lot of milk, livestock and other farm type traffic on these roads. Why not a turn lane?

^^^ I'll bet tanker drivers don't want it.
Round-abouts aren't cheap either.

One got put in outside of Golden CO a few years ago - it was odd the first time or so, but when a day or so past I found one in Olathe, KS it was easy.

But I'm the odd one grumping everywhere in the country that a "MI Left" would fix a related problem. Felt good to be back in GR MI last week making two lefts then a right instead of a left turn...

The MI left is fun because a driver can charge up to the u-turn and have a clear view of oncoming traffic, and take the u-turn as fast as possible while merging with traffic. Then take an open right.

Have there been a number of accidents or near misses? After construction, seems a lot of energy and clutch material gets conserved by a round-a-bout at a busy intersection. We had 2 installed in this rural, small town years ago and after adaptation, I've not heard any more complaints.

^^^ There is an area somewhat near me that looks similar to above with a round about. Double bottoms (tandem trailers) are legal in MI and commonly used.

Thinking about it, I can't remember ever see one go through this RA.....and I take it at least twice a week. Makes me wonder if they have to find another route to bypass it.

I've never encountered round-abouts here at high speed, high volume intersections. Only replacing 4-way stops in residential and rural locations ... and they throw Aunt Bea in a loop .

Hope my mom never sees one !
