Sadly, I don't like any of them for myself. Now that I can afford a new car, there are none that both I and my wife like (at least not enough to spend serious money for). I think if I were to buy a car this year, it would be a very well optioned and fully restored (perfect) '65 or '66 Mustang fastback or convertible.

Ditto on nothing new wanted. The mechanicals sound okay...but the star trek dashes and nannies turn me off. However, it's good that the V-8 isn't dead yet.

Yep. There is always something about almost every new car that just does not appeal to me...whether it is the seats or the styling. Most that I like the looks of are just a bit too large for the tiny parking spots today or have seats that are not comfortable, poor visibility due to roofline/pillars, etc. Others simply look like a midlife crisis with massive ugly badges and oversized (diameter) wheels. I like some of the technology (would love a backup camera and SIIUS radio), but a lot of it is awfully busy and a big computer screen competes with the rest of the dash and surrounding cars for my attention.

I would have gladly opted out of a thousand dollars (or more) of 'driver safety features' if I could have.
Most new cars...it's not possible to do that.

A restomod would be fine...if not too easily identified as such (body/bumper/interior). I think some guys take them a bit too far (custom metalwork). I do like the custom frames/chassis that they put on older cars/trucks with disc brakes, independent suspension, better steering, etc....even an LS or coyote motor. But a relatively stock early Mustang would be just great...as long as it had air conditioning and disc brakes in front. I just don't want one that I am constantly wanting/needing to improve/upgrade or fix (as with previous Mustangs I have had) ...I want it already done/perfect and just want to drive it.

My wife will never agree. I can't believe she lets me have the Porsches. Yep...she is the boss.

That has killed a lot of my interest in new cars, too. The newest vehicle in our garage is from 2010. I like the simplicity of earlier cars.

Now, everything is computer controlled. Throttle by wire. Electronic parking brake. The hood/trunk release. Automatic headlights. Heck, even turning on and off the engine via push button. (Is it one push, or two? I pushed the start/stop button; if the engine's off, how come the radio won't turn off?) Wait 'til something breaks or malfunctions. I'm not going to have any idea how to fix it, either roadside or even in my own garage at home. Off to the dealer we go, to reset the system.

Get off my lawn!
