Something to aim for

I've owned a Withings wifi scale for a few years. Just step on it in the am and it sends your weight and bmi to your app on a phone or laptop. Very handy because it graphs the results out instantly and shows trends.

Now, Withings just came out with a pee collector that sits in the front of your toilet bowl.
It analyzes the urine and reports the findings to the same app on your phone.

It's kinda expensive ($500) but for the health conscious, it's prob well worth it.
The link below tells what it looks for. (kidney issues and many others)
And a pic of what to aim for.

The U-Scan has a reader that detects when a person pees on it. It then takes a sample of the urine. Inside the device is a replaceable analysis cartridge that contains 100 test pods, enough to last for three months. The urine sample is then analyzed using the biomarkers in the cartridge. Withings offers two types of cartridges. The Cycle Sync cartridge is designed for women and can detect biomarkers such as Luteinizing Hormone (LH), which indicates ovulation. It can also detect specific gravity for water balance and pH for protein-vegetable balance.

The other one is the Nutri Balance cartridge which works for both men and women, provided they are above the age of 18 years. This cartridge can detect biomarkers for specific gravity for water balance, pH for protein-vegetable balance, ketones for energy metabolism, and vitamin C levels. Withings also says it is open to partnering with health professionals to design customizable cartridges that can be used to monitor patient health, and expand the functions of U-Scan beyond its current state. There is a companion app where users can check the readings and get suggestions and helpful tips on a daily basis.

The device has a rechargeable battery that lasts up to three months on a single charge. Users should be able to charge it via a USB-C port at about the same time they are replacing the cartridge. Withings says the U-Scan will be priced at €499.95 (~$530) and will come with the choice of a Cycle Sync or Nutri Balance cartridge. Users can choose to subscribe for an automatic refill which costs €29.95 (~$32) per month, or buy standalone cartridges from the company.

I like to measure things. I'm not diabetic, but a few years ago, I bought a blood glucose meter and went through 150-200 test strips testing things, sometimes 10x per day out of curiosity.

When I was preparing for the MS150, I had a HRM that I wore while riding and thought that was pretty cool.

I think the Kardio-thingy, 6 point EKG machine that stores data to your phone is cool.

All that, but for some reason, I just don't have a desire to monitor my urine. LOL.

Your urine..or your blood will tell a lot about your general health.

I'm not ready to get one of these...but I can see how it would be helpful to many. I also am guessing that a persons health insurance might pay for most, or a good chunk of the cost. (esp if they were given access to your app)

I wonder what the warranty is if it gets clogged up with stout beer?

If I bought one....I wouldn't look forward to changing the sensor cartridge and battery.

Yeah, I am kinda anti "smart" home. I recently ordered some LED backlights from Bezos and I had to download an app and let them connect to my wifi network to work? Huh? returned that Trojan horse garbage. Feel the same way about a lot of "smart" health devices too. Might it bite me in the a55 some day? Maybe, but I see my doc regularly and submit to all the tests.

^^^ I'm the opposite of that.
If something works right and it saves me from having to go in and see the doctor...I'm all for it.
These things in the toilet are too new/early for me...but down the road, I would try them.

I also avoid the yearly check-up by having an in-home health exam every year. Priority Health pays for it and I get $25 for agreeing to it every time.
