Didn't see 'em play the anthem.... but the TTB can rock with the best of 'em .... a very cool couple
We booked a few surviving Skynyrd band members for a event back in the 80s and they brought a very young Derek Trucks was performing with them at this event, hell, it may have been his 1st public gig. Arty told me that

Nope .... I think I saw his first public gig .... I "think" it was sitting in for a few songs with Ace Moreland's band (so many shows that I disremember schit ), but it was at a club called Applejacks .... I think it was in San Marco. Two years later, I did see him also at The Landing opening for Joe Bonamassa.... Derek was eleven and Joe was 13.... and Joe was channeling SRV back then. Pier 7 down at the beach was my main blues club ..... including every Blue Monday and Ward's Landing on the ICW .... good times!

I remember we didn't see each other at the REM show at JU too

^^^^ It was Ace Moreland (RIP) .... my memory isn't totally shot . Ace was also tight with LS guys (grew up with Steve Gaines in OK) and I even saw a video of young Derek playing with Ace and some LS guys outside on the deck of the Crabpot. We were regulars on that small deck every Sunday when they had music. Had to go to the beach to buy beer anyways on Sundays .... hoot
