As annoying as Flo was ...

Progressive "check the replay" commercials make me wanna stop watching football...

They stink more than Tampa does

.....and the Dallas kicker

Talk about mind-fuuked! Crazy considering Maher has had a really good season, until now.

My cousin works for Progressive Insurance, has a good position with them in their Cleveland Corporate office..he recently shared that after the CEO, Flo is the 2nd highest paid member of staff (interesting dinner conversation).

They should reintroduce Flo in one of those very ads. "Upon further review, we've ditched the challenge flag commercials and returned you to our regular programming."

Nothing worse than the USAA song. God help you if you have to call them and get put on hold, total earwig.

The song and their service both suck. Rates that used to be lower than any other company are now the same. Gronkowski must cost a lot for his spokesperson role

Things really started going downhill when USAA decided to start offering their insurance and banking to everyone that is or ever was in the military. Yeah, they got more members, but they also got a demographic that tended to get more tickets and have more accidents. And the rest of us are now paying for it in higher rates.

I'll admit I'd never considered that the rate increases we've received from USAA over the years were due, at least in part perhaps, to opening up to non-officers.

And while we're complaining about USAA: why do they always have to end phone calls with a reminder of how old I am by thanking me for being a 40-year member?

Not just non-officers ... their children. I don't think my buddy's dad (RIP) was in the military, but his step-dad was (AF academy grad .... couldn't fly due to eyesight, so he joined the Marines and served in 'nam). My buddy had three houses insured with USAA .... two in Fl and one outside of Richmond .... mebbe ten years ago they told him that they would only insure one .... pick one. USAA was looking to reduce exposure like most ins. companies did after significant storm payouts while also jacking up rates. They are no different than all of them now ... it's just bu$ine$$ as usual.

Same with credit unions ... most are very similar to banks now .... all about the $$$ .

USAA --- there is a direct correlation between rate increase and allowing basically everyone to join. What is so irritating/condescending is the one commercial about them being exclusive and now they have changed.

The reason USAA was founded was for military officers to have portable insurance back in the day when you had to get a new agent every time you changed duty station.

They opened up to everyone and changed the pool of insured. So when you have a 20 yo private that wants insurance but has a Camaro and a bunch of tickets his rates are going to be high but so will his number of claims. So that gets spread out to ALL of us.

But what I really don't get is the volume of advertisement as if people in the armed services don't know about them. Heck, there is even a section about USAA in the Army Officer's Guide, alerting officers of their existence.
Add in the Gronkowski spokesperson stuff and the company now sponsoring a lot of sporting events. They are spending money hand over fist. Also, the amount of real estate they have in San Antonio is staggering. I just noticed a high rise, prob 15 floors, in downtown SA yesterday. That's in addition to the HQ campus that is gigantic. Pretty sure though that you can't go into the actual bank lobby still.

One final thing: this past summer USAA had some sort of anniversary celebration on the main campus. They erected a stage and had John Maher as the headliner. But actual members weren't invited, just their folks. So an event that cost who knows how much that was kept on the down low and not open to members, nice.

I always joke: if you've seen a USMC sticker on the back of a pick-up truck you are now eligible for USAA

I thought the one where the dad screamed like a girl was pretty funny!

Certainly much better than disappearing the real Jake from State Farm in the name of virtue signaling.

Just like credit unions back in the day were operated FOR their members (and membership was exclusive and limited) and not really for profit .... USAA went down the same path. Auto insurance payouts are likely cheap compared to housing after the storms of the past decade. My rates (not USAA) have skyrocketed to cover losses along the coast fwiw.

It's time to go shopping for me.... don't assume USAA is your best option either .... it may not be (anymore).

State Farm will likely be who I go with .... their bundle (home & auto) is attractive. I've had my houses with Amica for years .... they are no longer a good choice for me.

I've never filed a claim.... and they all $uck

For me as well.

I've been thinking - admittedly for far too long - about checking rates to make sure USAA's hand isn't too far down into my cookie jar. Something tells me it just might be.

I’ve had USAA since ‘67. I have no idea where to look.

Have been with State Farm for most of my adult life. House, cars, boats, etc. In almost every case they've been fantastic and taken good care of me. My only gripe was with the omission of rental car coverage when a deer ran into my new truck and it was in the shop for a month. I thought no reasonable person would want their repair covered but not the rental car.

I left USAA in about 2017 when I added my second kid to policy. Liberty Mutual was cheaper by a long shot. Then a year later without any claims my Liberty policy increased to where it would have been with USAA. So running back I went.

Leaving USAA is a huge pain in the behind. You cannot do it online and must call in. They then try to 'match' the other quote and when they can't they still try to keep you. But sir... you've been a member for 30something years. So, if you want to keep me match this price... We can't. Bye then. That took 30 to 45 minutes.

The good thing about leaving USAA is that you get the money from that account they have for you that was substituted for the annual refund check you used to get. Mine was nearly $4k.

I had GEICO since I was 17 years old (now closing on 76) with no claims. GEICO’s most recent bill prodded me to look around. I wound up with USAA (I’m a vet) at half GEICO’s price for the same (actually better) full coverage. Both of the body shops that I dealt with in my 42 year automotive career said USAA was the easiest company to deal with and one of the shops was a GEICO Pro shop. All the nay say has me hoping I made the right move.
