Tempted to get a pair of these....but I have gutter screens that cover the top.
Never bothers me using a ladder to get on the roof.....getting off the roof is a challenge.

On the thing that they pulled out of the sand, I saw what looked like one of the squid tentacles/feeding arms. I'm assuming it washed up dead on the beach and was partially buried in sand by the waves.
