There are YouTube videos of how to befriend them. They won't ever eat out of your hand (said one video) but will recognize you in unique ways. I sense you need to invest some time but they will recognize you from the very beginning.

I remember reading in a scientific journal about a guy who survived after he got impaled by an iron rod right through the eye and out the back of his head. He was, of course, never the same but for some reason wild birds lost all fear of him and he spent hours sitting in the park surrounded by all kinds of birds. They sat on his shoulders, knees, constantly chattering away.
