Done With Amazon

So today I was suppose to receive some solder ordered last week (so much for free 2 day shipping). Never showed up checked my account said undeliverable and my money will be returned within 3 days no explanation. I’m assuming they got angry because I ordered a bunch of stuff and refused to have it all shipped in one box because I needed something faster.

I was home today when my driver delivered my order - that I placed LAST NIGHT.

He complimented Holyann - so I gave him TWO bottles of cold water. Then he wished her Happy Valentines Day. Nice touch!

Faceless entities don't get angry. Sometimes stuff just happens. You can roll with it or never buy ftom Amazon again. Totally your choice.

I ordered two items last night that gott delivered today - in two separate boxes.

Never had a bad experience with Amazon here.
Maybe I'm lucky...but they seem to do everything right.

"Quitting Amazon" sounds good in theory.

And like hbueno suggested, "Amazon" couldn't care less how many packages your stuff arrives in. The driver might, if you live somewhere that's a challenge to get to, but the whole idea of fewer deliveries is meant to make you feel better about using Amazon.

They are now taking more than 50% of the price you see from the originating small business.

LOL Steve.....

It's 6:50 PM, I just ordered a 24 pack of Red Bull, it will be here between 7 and 11 AM tomorrow morning at a significant discount over Target. Can't beat that.

The good thing about Amazon is you can buy weird stuff easily. For normal stuff, I do my best to buy local. For stuff like Red Bull and pistachios, both staples, both significantly cheaper than Target, it's a no brainer.

Plus...Amazon has one of the best return policies of all.

If not happy with your purchase, just click on return and a postage free label will be printed. When it's dropped at a ups station...your account is credited back at that time.

Saying NO to Amazon is like saying NO to using Google. It is part of the modern shopping experience. Instead of wandering a 1/2 empty mall with most the stores boarded up.

Be real, it's very difficult quit Amazon cold turkey by yourself. There are "just say no to Amazon" group therapy meetings near you. Stay strong brother, you have my prayers

What is this "label" you speak of? Click return, they tell me OK, here's a QR, walk the item into the Whole Foods down the street, someone reads the QR code on my phone, and by the time I get home my account has been credited.

It's as close to a Star Trek replicator as I'll probably see in my lifetime.

Love the Don Quixote painting. Metaphor for Our Modern Life™.

stevej37 02-14-2023 03:23 PM

^^^ lol...you don't live in a rural area like I do. The closest Whole Foods is an hour away. The closest store of any kind is 10 miles away. So..no walking for me.

But yes, as soon as it's scanned, the money is back.

I have not purchased anything from amazon so far, don't use google for much. Youtube I guess is an alphabet company, so that, occasionally.

I would rather pay double and go to the hardware store for stuff. I want brick and mortar stores to continue to exist, so I do what I can. I guess it helps not to live out in the sticks.

I ordered 10 oil plug gaskets for $10 from Amazon. Never received them so I called and they said they were delivered to my porch. Amazon offered my money back. I accepted figuring I would just get them at the auto parts store. Two days later my wife was checking one of her Amazon packages and lo and behold there were my gaskets. They threw them in on one of her orders and just luckily she double checked the package. I felt guilty for about 30 seconds.

stevej37 02-14-2023 04:14 PM

^^^ I hope you called to have the billing fixed?

70SATMan 02-14-2023 04:16 PM

Amazon got angry, lol,,,,

It’s not like it’s hard to get solder either,,, I wouldn’t even think to use Amazon for something like that. There’s like 10 plus places at least within a 7 mile radius that I could hop in the car and get solder.

I use Amazon for odd ball stuff, repair parts, etc.

Shaun @ Tru6 02-14-2023 04:25 PM

^^^ yeah, for solder, that's Coolidge Hardware down the street. But for a 6 piece hemostat set, Menzerna metal polish, a takoyaki griddle pan, commercial fridge casters rated at 1200 lb per set and a 5" jack pad among other things, Amazon can't be beat.

A930Rocket 02-14-2023 04:50 PM

My experience has been 99% positive. It’s been a while, but sometimes I got a undeliverable or homeowner not home type notice.

The last time, I was sitting 20 feet from the front door and have a camera set up outside. Nobody came to the door when they said it was undeliverable.
