I bought your tool and loved it. Sadly sold it 15 years ago with my 70E. Just back in saddle for a year and restocking tools and references etc.

When I was in my late 20s all of my friends were getting married and some having kids. We'd talk about all kinds of things but when the fathers to be friends were there, we'd talk about how we all thought our dads were good dads but we wanted more, wanted to be more emotionally engaged with our kids than our dads were who essentially worked to put food on the table. With my gf getting a masters in journalism in magazine publishing (I was currently the "business manager" for a small composite mfg that made parts for the Stealth bomber, etc.) and my all of my friends wanting a great connection with our kids, I thought of publishing a magazine for dads, and Modern Dad was, ahem, born.

The vision was Popular Mechanics, Popular Science and Parenting all rolled into one with Dad slant. So articles ranged from the physics of and how to teach your son to throw a curve ball to reviewing a Volvo Cross Country wagon to reading to your kids at night to great sex articles to short fact and fiction pieces written by readers.

We spent over a year putting it together. It was an amazing venture. Everyone loved it. My gf/partner and I were on a morning show TV once, lot of radio and in newspapers including the NYTimes. Pretty much all volunteer staff.

Between 1990s hard drives dying and a flood in my grandfather's basement, there's very little left of Modern Dad. I've asked my old gf to send me what she has. A few pics of what I have.

Friend sent a pic of our first real issue. Old masthead style. I think we printed 20K copies.

Last issue cover, all I have is a tiny jpg. Mercedes gave me an SLK to test drive. I was floored that they just delivered it to me in midtown Manhattan. The Volvo I had to go to Jersey to get.

Typical newspaper article. We sent out tons of actual paper press releases mailed to media outlets.
