This will give you a good laugh.

Nurburgring in 1964.

356s racing against all sorts of stuff like Triumph Herals, a VW Beetle, Ford Falcon (or similar) with is arm hangin' out the window. Even a Hillman Imp LOL Some guys fell off a scooter and got grazed elbows and knees haha.

That is fantastic! Scooter bit is hilarious, so casual.

Tire squeal, tails out, great times.

Having driven a 63 Chev for years that driver needed his head checked.

What kills me is nobody told those drivers that a crappy little beetle didn’t belong on the ‘ring with the cool kids in the 356’s.

Crazy stuff... LOL

And they all looked like they were having a lot of fun with not a lot of horse power.

Crazy. Somehow it looks even crazier than the current setup where you see cars, delivery trucks, motorcycles, SUVs, etc.... These guys looked like they were in a race going 101% balls out.

The guys shooting past the ambulance was interesting. One of the 356s had been upside down, or I assume since the roof had a big dent. And a couple of the 356s had the rear deck lid setup like a scoop like I've seen on some beetles. I wonder if that was really necessary or if it was just something that folks were used to doing with beetles, so they figured it should help on the 356s too.

I drove a 1960 VW bug and then a 1973 bug. I can't imagine cornering so had as to get into a spin from oversteer. I would have thought they would roll with that suspension. I was an invulnerable teenager, and I could get the 60 bug to lift one rear tire in a corner, but it was never close to a spin. The only time I felt oversteer was in the rain, or a parking lot doing donuts in the snow.

Crazy action in that film.

Wait! That was the actual race???

I thought it was just a bunch of yayhoos running laps.

And yes, I noticed the 356 with a big dent on the roof. Also the speedster/cab that was fishtailing all over the place.

What a hoot.

That was great - thanks. It did look like they were having fun.

I think that was a '63 Chevy Impala (not a Falcon).

These kid all borrowed their dads DD to go to the movies on Sunday... and ended up hot lapping the effing Nürburgring without a hat... or pants, apparently. Makes my teenage antics seem fairly subdued.
