Uncle Dave Is Gone
David Lindley has passed away at 78. This is a tough one, he was one of my favorites. Saw him at Matilija Junior High School solo and with Jackson Browne and with El Rayo X.
I even met and spoke with him at of all places, a Gun Show in Pomona. He collected Samurai swords. RIP David, I'm sure you're wailing on the harp up in Heaven dressed in your finest polyester! https://bestclassicbands.com/david-lindley-obituary-3-3-23/

Damn. This one really sucks. He was one of those guys you wanted to "show off" to your buddies, live shows were a real party and his records could (can!) put the fun back into a get together. Hard to not smile when you hear something that Uncle Dave is making his own.
Love you Dave. Your music sincerely helped.

This is a sad one for me. He was one of those artists that if I met someone who liked him with El Rayo X, I knew I'd found a new friend.
One of the first songs I played for my kids was "Quarter of a Man."

He was a supreme talent. When I was in student government at Cal Poly Pomona we booked him for show. It was amazing.
I recently picked up the El Rayo X album after happening upon it and realizing I had none of his music. Will spin in his honor. Rip Dave.

Oh man - saw him like a million times. Lived about a mile from me - and was quite supportive of the local folk music scene.
